First Fill - 6ccs

Recommended Posts

I was banded 18th Dec and had my first fill yesterday.

When I asked the nurse how much they'd put in she said 6cc.

Does that seem a lot for a first fill? It was done with the x-ray thingy so I'm sure it's ok.

However, when I had my 10cc band put in they said they'd put in 4cc at the time.

Wouldn't this then mean that my 10cc band would be full?

If so, what happens when I need another fill 3 or 4 months down the line?

I'm confused.....

To me that sounds like too much at one time. I don't see how you could eat or drink anything. I was banded in Aug. 08, with a 10 cc band. As of Jan 12th I had my fourth fill and I am now only a little over 3 cc's. My doctor only puts .5cc's or less each fill. How was your restriction after surgery? How are you feeling after the fill yesterday?

i dont think she told you right maybe she meant 6cc total where you are going up only 2 instead. usually they pull the old one out to make sure you have what your suppose to and then add more to make sure its the right amount.

Wow, that is an agressive fill. I would ask for some clarification from your doctor.

I had 3cc placed during the surgery, then 1.5 cc on 12/10/08 and 1cc on 1/14/09.

I thought it sounded a bit odd but- I've just checked my card and the nurse has written "fill: 6ml". (Not even ccs!)

Restriction seems good so far. I've had Soups and yoghurt today and a few glasses of Water and cups of tea. Felt comfortably full after half a slimfast milkshake.

Is that about right?

No one else on here seems to have had such a dramatic fill. Thanks for your comments.

My first fill was only 1cc/ml. We tried l.5 and it was way too much, I could not swallow the Water and starting throwing up. By the way, cc's and ml's are the same thing!!

LOL! Thanks for the cc/ml info. I suppose the first thing to do is to ask if they put in an extra 6ml or if they took out the 4ml and put 6ml back in totalling just 2ml extra. Thanks again. xx

Because if I'm already on 10cc then I don't know where to go from here. xx

(sorry, writing this on my cell so sorry if not making sense)

I was banded Aug 26 and had my first fill of 3 cc on Oct 6 - 1 cc was in there from surgery - so I had 4 total. I just had my second fill on Jan 16 and he added 2cc to the 4cc for a total of 6 cc. I definitely feel restriction now. You can always ask them for a clarification of how much you have total now.

Update; I emailed the fill coordinator to check and she wrote back "you have a 10ml band with 6ml fill after your fill on Tuesday". So that clears that up.

I've not felt great restriction today. It feels looser than yesterday but then I am still on thick fluids. Am keen to get on with solids so I can see what it's really going to be like.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
