Hi from Massachusetts, Anyone banded at the Brigham?

Recommended Posts

Hi there, I'm pretty new to this site. I have not gotten the band but am more in the research stage and even with all the info I have and read on this site, I'm still terrifed, so I guess that means I'm not ready? I've been to a seminar and wanted to know if anyone is or has gotten banded in Boston at Brigham and Womans Hospital? If I do get the lap band that is where I will be going.

I'm hoping to connect with some people going through this in my area.

Thanks!

I think the terror is normal. It's a big step!

Hi, I'm going in for my surgery on March 12th with Dr. Ashley Vernon. But instead on Brigham they asked if I wouldn't mind going to the Faulkner which an affliate hospital with Brigham's. I heard it's a great place.

That's great! I have my first consultation with Dr. Robinson tomorrow. There is a thread on here for just Brigham/Faulkner banders. If I do get this, I will be getting it at the Faulkner as they have private rooms.. ;)

It looks like you and I have the same surgery date and the same doctor. I'm so excited, but also pretty nervous. The weird thing is that I'm not nervous about getting the band. I'm more nervous about the gas pain after surgery. I'm such a baby when it comes to pain :hurray:

Good luck with your surgery!!

Hi Alyson, Can't believe we have the same Doc and date. Which hospital are you having your surgery at? Have you already had your preop eval? I feel the same way about the gas pains. Most people on the site say they go away if you walk around and take the gas-x strips, so I guess I'll be doing alot of walking. I'm more concerned about the ride home, being from the cape it's about a 2 hr. drive. Hopefully I'll sleep most of the way. Good Luck with your surgery, also.

Lynmcg, I am going to Faulkner as well. After I was finally approved by my health insurance, Dr. Vernon's office told me that the earliest date available was at the Faulkner and I was more than ok with going there. I go for my preop eval this Friday at 9. Did you go to your's yet?

Like you said, hopefully you'll just sleep on the way home. I know how long that ride can be.

And it looks like I'll be walking around my apartment alot after the 12th. I hope my downstairs don't mind!

This is way to funny! I have my preop this Friday also but at 1:30. Maybe we'll run into each other? Well, good luck with the liquid diet. Remember, it will be worth it!

I am a patient of Dr. Robinson as well, working on pre-op weight loss right now and hopefully I will get my surgery date when I see him for a weight check on March 10... It does not look like I will be a March bandster after all though... :)

You're right this is way to funny. I actually have an appointment with the nutrionist around 11:30 so maybe we will bump into one another. Good luck to you as well with the liquid diet. I jsut keep telling myself that this is going to be the best decision I have ever made.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
