A bit concerned...please inform

Hi all! I had my surgery on January 6th (Tuesday) so it has only been 6 days. However, I am only able to get down maybe half of a thing of Soup broth and a popsicle a day. I am hungry but don't want to eat because I feel sick when I do. Is this normal or should I call the doctor? When I was in the hospital I vomited several times and it was excrutiating and I know I am afraid of vomiting again because the pain was so intense. Let me know what you think. I can't get any of my post op Vitamins down and no Protein like instructed. Thanks!

Meghan

I agree. Call your doctor asap. I had surgery Thursday. I'm not consuming much more than a shake, a Soup and a popsicle in addition to Water. I haven't felt hungry, though. Perhaps the gas in my belly is masking any hunger. I feel fortunate in that I have not had any nausea, either.

I was like that for the first 2 weeks. I had no appetite at all. I did not want to drink anything not even Water, but I forced myself because I did not want to become dehydrated. Take it slowly, even if you just do sips and/or popsicles. Hang in there and congrats on your surgery!

It's not the hunger I'd be worried about...hunger is normal. The fact that you feel sick every time you eat anything and threw up several times in the hospital worries me more. Call your doctor ASAP. :tongue2:

Jasmine: While I was in the hospital, we could not find a pain med that would not make me break out and hives and not make me nauseated. Because of this, my pain was terrible and I stayed in the hospital for 2.5 days.

My doctor prescribed anti-nausea Patches for me, which really helped. The patch allowed me to take my pain meds without vomiting and thus my pain was managed.

My fear for you is that your Fluid intake is not where it should be. You don't want to dehydrate and you should not be in pain.

So call your doctor and make he/she aware of what is going on. Perhaps they can order anti-nausea Patches for you too. The patches work wonders.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
