Two weeks to go!

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I'm and Aussie (Queensland). Having my banding done here on 27th of January (Day after Australia day holiday) so hopefully I will be nice an relaxed. From talking with a few people I know that it still won't be easy but worth it. Oh forgot to say that my sister is having it done on the same day so at least we will be able to support each other.

Cheers

So you'll be real band sisters! (We call people banded on the same day as us our band sisters.)

Hi Karie! You and I are also band sisters as my surgery is also scheduled for 1-27-09 (even though our surgeries will actually take place one day apart because of time zones). Do you have to do a liquid pre-op diet? I start mine tomorrow (1/13). I'm looking forward to the surgery.

Hi there,

Yes I did start the pre op diet. I was going to start on the Tuesday 13th but thought what the hell, I will start on the Monday 12th. So second day and it's not too bad. I think it's a bit of a shock for my real sister as she has never been on a Meal Replacement diet. In 2007 I lost 20kilos in 12 weeks on a Meal Replacement diet, but dam it found me and a couple more. That made my mind up that I had to do something. My real test will be eating slow as I admit it I'm a fast eater and the serves are too big!

Cheers

Karie

Wow, what a great sibling support system you have going on.

Best of luck to you and your sister!

Hi Kari! Started my liquid pre-op diet today -- and it's not bad -- I had stocked up on Isopure and Carnation instant Breakfast, etc. I can also eat some veggie Soups (pureed) and yogurt, etc. I can handle it. I just tell myself I've spent 56 years pretty much eating whatever I wanted (except for the many diets) so I can now get serious and eat correctly to stay healthy. Good luck to both you and your sister as we start our journey.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
