Put on weight for insurance to approve surgery?

Recommended Posts

I was in the same boat. I went to one doctor and was denied because I didn't have any comorbidities and my BMI was not high enough. I had some real problems with this doctor's office so I changed to another doctor. In the interim, I ate everything I could get my hands on, to the point I couldn't eat any more. I drank a huge drink before going ... and my BMI was close, 39.5. I guess that was close enough because I was approved within 24 hours. I now have a date for 2/6/09!

Thanks for your advice everyone! I ended up eating what I could then using weights. I bent down when she was measuring me, and she ended up fudging my height anyway to make it work, she said she didn't see the point because I was so close. Then, I excused myself after and took the weights off. All was well  I assume I will be approved because depending on if she said for my height I either will be listed as a 41 or 42 bmi, I think I am acutally a 37 something.

Thanks for your help guys!!

HOW COULD YOU THAT IS SO DECEITFUL. I kid, I kid, I did the exact same thing. Except they never checked my height and I told them I was 5'9 when I am closer to 5'11. Put me right over the edge. The BMI requirement for insurance is arbitrary, IMO. There is little to no difference between 37 and 40.

LOL, I read the first part of that and I was like...ok...here we go! lol

And reguardless, I totally justified it  Ok, so for my size my boobs should be rather large, but they aren't. I am disporprotioned in that area. So I figure, Iadded the boob weight  lol

LMAO. I, on the other hand, and missingout in the boob department. When they were handing out body parts I must have gotten in line twice for the a$$ and missed the boobs all together! that is ok, that is what plastic surgeons are for!

I'm 5'3 so it was no biggie getting approved the first time around. My doc told me that since I have so many back problems if they don't lessen after I lose the weight that my insurance should cover a reduction for my boobs. I'm like hell ya make me a C cup baby! LOL (currently DD 44)

right there with you girl friend I am 5"'8" and wore a 38JJ bra. When I got breast reduction (insurance covered) I wore a size 12. Then I really started packing on the weight. I thought maybe the higher powers were punishing me for defacing my "temple."

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
