Ate a burger two days after surgery

Recommended Posts

hi, ive just sat for over an hour reading what everyone has wrote, & i am sooo shocked at what that person has eaten?, Firstly im not banded yet (will be 21st jan) so im on my pre op diet & let me tell you i would find it quite difficult to eat a burger, even now i can actually feel my stomach is shrinking, im struggling to even eat the little foods i am allowed on the pre op, I am not hungry at all (thought i would be climbing the walls at this stage) but i was watching my foods prior to the pre op diet,

my dietition told me IF i stick with everything they tell me to then it wont be a struggle & i have to agree she is right, im not saying this is right for everyone, im a savoury person not a sweet one, maybe this has made a diff ?

The thing i am imagining is...from a burger would come, belching?, gas?, feeling VERY full?, fat/lard from the burger resting in the stomach not digesting properly, & its not a case this person ate one wrong thing it was more?,

Me personally thinks this person was not give the right advice, (or maybe they were?) & has clearly chose to ignore it, & was not 100% dedicated to the banding..Maybe the person rushed into having the op without doing any research? hoping for a quick fix?

I know for a fact, this is not a magic wand...it is a tool that will be given to me from someone who want to help me, & with guidance of how to use it, I myself will have to operate it PROPERLY in order to make it work sucsessfully.

I too am wondering if this thread is a prank? as to why have we not heard from this person?

they asked for people's opinion but have not yet replied back to us..

I hope they decide to get help of more understanding about how the band works

I AM a new bandster, and I saw that they ate a hamburger and it sure as hell did not compel me to do the same. I wondered how they managed to pull that off, cause as I said, two days out of surgery I could barely hold down 1/2 a cup of Gatorade Propel Water.

And you're right, I'm NOT a doctor, but my brother is, so I address my medical questions to him. Thanks.

And furthermore, you are not a doctor either so getting on here and preaching like you are doesn't make it so. You may be more informed, and better prepared, but that does not a doctor make.

I didn't make it to the end of this thread to read what others said, but from you saying that a bunch of dolts are on here telling people its ok, is offensive to me, because I never said it was, and neither did the OP, for that matter.

I said, and forgive me for being a kind hearted person, that perhaps instead of living in the negativity that we have all been living in, because we do not live in a society that forgives being fat, that perhaps POSITIVITEY would be a refreshing change.

Excuse the hell out of me.

E.A.D.

Just because YOU didn't do it doesn't mean that others don't read this stuff and do it. And so what if your brother is a doctor. Is he a gastric/lap-band doctor? Doubtful.

Seriously, if you want to rah-rah these people, I can't stop the stupidity. However, the fact that others on here DO look for validation for doing this type of self-destructive behavior is enough to piss some of us off royally.

Ok, let me put my "mod hat" on for a sec (it's actually a beenie with a propeller, but I digress...). This is what I see at play here:

This thread is quickly turning into a "us vs. them" scenario (or possibly a "we vs. they", if you prefer). It's actually kinda common whenever anybody posts one of these "I did this, will I be OK" posts. Inevitably, people are polarized between giving a pep talk to the OP and giving a dose of tough love. Whichever camp you fall into is ok.....we are all entitled to our opinions.

However, let's not get petty. It's really easy to do....When somebody posts that they did something potentially dangerous or something that reeks of an addiction, all the rest of us addicts react.....but in the end we are all here for information and support, so let's try to keep it nice.

Is this a "for real" post? I tend to think not, but I could be wrong. If I am wrong, then the OP clearly needs some help. Lobbing bombs back and forth at each other doesn't accomplish much, except for making your poor underpaid (and by underpaid, I mean "do it for free") mods work that much harder. So in the intrest of keeping the peace I will personally send all of you autographed 8X11 glossy B&W headshots of yours truly. No really.......Hey where's everybody going? Hello??

Hehehe, fair 'nuff.

Ok, so a funny thing popped into my head just a minute ago.

If I posted and said "I beat the crap out of my significant other last night. I know I shouldn't have, but it was so tempting. What should I do about it?" I guarentee the replys would not be, "Awe, I so sorry to hear that. Lots of people do it. I will be ok."

So if abuse to others is not tolerated, why do we accept self-abuse, which is very clear in this case. I understand we could approach it a little better, but if I messed up that bad, I would go straight to a doc for help. I certainly wouldn't post it here.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
