So how many have had their surgery so far this month?

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone. I was banded on the 6th and the surgery went great - just like a textbook according to Doc!

However, I always have a bad time with anethesia, so I was very nauseous and considering we were under flood warnings and I live about an hour and a half away, I decided to stay the night. And, I'm glad I did. I had marvelous nursing care and after a night of IV martinis and a couple of shots, I woke up on the 7th able to drink my broth and savor those popsicles.

Today, I've been doing really well. I've been walking around and around inside the house and it has really helped to get rid of the gas pain that was in my shoulders and neck. I'm just glad there isn't anybody walking behind me - if you know what I mean! They might get blown away!:)

I'm sore but that's entirely normal. But, getting up and down is far easier today than yesterday. As my doctor put it, "This is going to be a great year for you!" I love the encouragement and enthusiasm my docs have and not to mention the loving support of my husband.

Who, by the way, has got to undergo disc surgery on his neck very soon. He went to the doctor today, and I think if his doctor could have got him scheduled he would be operating on him tomorrow! So, please remember him in your prayers.

This is my first time posting. However, I was banded on Jan. 9, 2009. The first couple of days were a little tough for me, could barely make myself drink. I was extremely gassy and was unable to pass it until Monday. :) I'm glad I found this site for support and answers.

Through it all, my husband has been a saint. So much so, he won't let me get up to do much of anything. I think this may have slowed down my progress, since I wasn't moving around much.

All in all, 4 days post-op and I am ready to go back to work. I'm looking forward to my new life!

Hi I was very gassy as well, I told my husband yesterday morning, "I'm upping my standards" he was like what?? I then said, well now I won't leave the bathroom until I pass gas 3 times - he just looked at me and said - "well, I guess I know you love me, cause otherwise you would not have said that to anyone else." :)

He has been a doll as well. I am taking off work until tues. My husband was going to take off all week, but I think he will go back half day on thurs and fri. I just wish it weren't so frickin' cold here in Md so I could stand to walk outside. I'm tired of my walls. but of course we get a cold spell just in time for me to come home from surgery.:)

I am one day post op and have not had a bm. I also have not passed any gas. I have been walking as much as possible around the house, but I am getting concerned. Normally really gassy.

Don't be to concern. Some people don't have the gas issue. And if you do have some gas it will soon come. I took about 3 days before my started to pass through.

I agree with Peanutband. Sure, I tooted pretty quickly, but the real "putt-putt" started after I got home and relaxed. I'm still getting rid of the last of it, and I've been home well over a week. Relax. It'll happen when it needs to.

As far as BM's are concerned, remember you didn't have a whole lot in your digestive tract if you had a pre-op liquid diet. It may be a few days before there's enough solid matter available to evacuate.

My doc did warn me that because of what I'm eating, Constipation can be a minor issue. I've found that to be somewhat true, but a cup or two of a certain herbal tea seems to get the ball rolling in the right direction.

I don't really get it. Frankly, I'm finding well-cooked vegetables much easier to get down than chicken and other soft meats. eggs, Spam and tuna go down well, but not most other meats. Veggies I can cook to death and they pass. meat...not so much.

I also took 3 days b4 I had a bm. I was worried that it was getting all clogged up, but all was well. Now I have bouts of Constipation but it's not too bad. Also the volume of food is soooo much less.

The gas was very annoying the first 4-5 days but now it's gone! Is anyone having cotton mouth or bad breath in the mornings? Every morning my mouth is coated with white gunk. Any ideas? (Sorry this post is so gross.)

I didn't have it this time, but last time I had "metal mouth" and a coating. It was the result of the anesthesia. It did go away.

Also, eat yogurt Glenda. It helps. I found out all that belly noise I've been having is perfectly normal! LOL! Good to know, because my tummy was more talkative than my ADHD daughter. (Something I thought impossible. The girl's tongue is hinged in the middle so both sides can flap.)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
