Let me introduce myself!!

Recommended Posts

Hello all, my name is Renee'. I am originally from Alabama(Roll Tide!!), but now I live in the Atlanta area. I was banded on October 28, 2008 and as of today, I have lost about 25 lbs. Right now I have been at a stand still since then. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to do that much exercising because I have plantar faciitis in my left foot. It is VERY painful and I cant walk or stand on it for a long period of time. I am scheduled to have surgery on it on the 14th of January, and after that I am looking forward to getting out there and getting more weight off in 2009. I'm new to this site and hopefully I will meet a lot of new people who have gone or is going through the same journey that I am enduring. Hope to talk to you soon!!:wink2:

Welcome!!!

I was also banded in October.

I hope all goes well w/ your foot surgery. I've had episodes with that heel pain and have had cortisone shots in the past (ouch). I have to get my butt in gear and start exercising! I've asked my son to bring my recumbent bike from the basement...I figure if it's in front of the tv, I'll be more likely to use it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
