My insurance is BC/BS of CA - and I am just waiting for my doc's letter to send everything off for pre-approval.

You give me hope! I sooooooooo want this surgery!

Maybe we can both be banded in August!

Your lucky lol, I have been trying to have mine approved through Anthem for almost a year now. I even had Inamed appeal twice for me and they finally decided to pay for lapbands but my BMI had to be lower than 50 which I am a 62.

I have BC/BS of Illinois, they came back telling me they need a year of medically supervised visits, don't have 12 months consecutive, sent what I had, wrote a letter, my pcp wrote a letter and still waiting. I truly know they will deny me and I don't know what I will do, I will be heartbroken. I can apply again once I have the 12 months i guess.

HI Beth;

Oh I am so sorry. That is what I am afraid of. I have been on every diet, including the dangerous drug Phenfen, and been to so many diet places, but never documented for a yr. I think that is so ridiculous. If you fail with dieting, most people do not try for a whole yr. I wish you all the best. And I am still waiting and praying. thank you.

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
