28 f in las vegas 26 days post-op looking for support

Recommended Posts

hi everyone!!! my name is alison...i am 28 years old...i was banded on 12/2 by dr. hanna here in las vegas, nv. i dont feel i have been very successful thus far and am definitely down in the dumps about it...i am looking for some sort of support...preferably here locally, however via email or phone would be nice too...most of my family friends are skinny so although they are supportive, i just dont feel they can completely relate to what i am going through...i hope to hear from some of you soon!!! take care and good luck to everyone on their band journey!!!

alison

Though I'm not local to you, I noticed nobody has replied to your post yet, and just wanted to offer some hugs to you.

This is your healing period. Changes are taking place, and many people don't see them right away. This is the time for you to be gentle with your stomach while it recovers from the trauma it just experienced. Soon you will start noticing differences. It may not be a change on the scale right away, but possibly extra room in your pants and so forth.

Please don't be discouraged yet. You are already on your way to a successful journey, and I wish you all the best!! I hope you find someone nearby that can bring you some comfort. If not, there's lots of great people here that are always willing to listen!

Congratulations!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
