Hi Linda, and welcome38gk.gif

It sounds like you are doing great with your band thus far. You said you had your first fill and are feeling a little tight. Are you making sure to take very small, teeny bites and chew them to absolute mush? Are liquids going down ok? I am just trying to get a better idea of what you are experiencing so we can help you determine if you are too tight, or just not used to being filled yet.

i wonder too. unless it's mushies, i have pain after 2 bites.

sometimes i quit there, or take a break & continue when pain subsides. pain 10 - 20 mins. can it be stuck? why would it be trying to go thru the stoma so quickly? it's sure not an overfilled pouch! still experimenting w/time of day & texture of foods. lap-band sure is high maintenance, & i've traded in one weight-related depression for another. when i can eat i don't get full, so can i possibly be too tight????? shouldn't i feel a pressure/pain when my pouch fills & not w/every bite?

help!!!!!

Just joined in today, 12/27. I have just begun my journey I have had all pre-testing procedures done, including psychologist and nutritionist evaluations. Just waiting for insurance approval. However, the endoscopy showed that I have a duodenal ulcer and gastritis. My GI doctor said that should not cause any problem with going ahead with my lapband surgery - I hope that is the case. I have Blue Shield PPO and they have assured me that they do cover at 100% for my co-morbidity reasons. I would love to hear from those of you who have just had their banding and from those of you who have had their banding a while ago. I would like to get feedback on all aspects - please don't be shy - I would like you to be completely honest with me. Happy Holidays to you all and thank you.:hurray:

Susan, sorry it took me so long to reply. Lost my password, and was difficult to get anothere one. I do have to remind myself to take small bites, but it takes only a few bites to fill me up. 4 days after fill, I woke up with pain over r shoulder and down to shoulder blades. Felt like pleursy, but not. it took a few days but pain has gone, and I have now lost 30 pounds. no problems with Christmas. Ate very little. Yes liquids have gone down well. Maybe not used to being filled. different feeling than after surgery. Is 4 cc's the norm for first fill? Linda 11

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
