I'm a little afraid that I have a leak. I went to the doctor in November because I had a stomach virus. He withdrew all the Fluid (3.9 in a 4 cc band). I had been throwing up for a week or so and couldn't get over it. He waited two weeks and put 2 cc back in. I don't recall having any restriction, but am not sure. I went back in three weeks and there was no fluild in the band to withdraw - NONE. He said with 2 cc I should have felt some restriction of some type.

He put 2 cc back in exactly a week ago. Because of the holidays I can't see him until 1/8/09. He said there may be a leak and it might have been a weird way he put the needle in or something....

I'm worried because I can't afford revision. Any advice appreciated.

Becky,

I did have a leak and I had my band replaced.

But aside from that, my doctor said it's normal for maybe .1 or .2ccs to evaporate. 2ccs sounds like a lot of Fluid to just "evaporate". Maybe he missed the port the first time after your virus? I guess you'll find out if your band is holding the Fluid when you go back in Jan. I hope it is! Good luck with everything.

becky - actually I am going thru this right now as well. I was supposed to have 3.5 cc in my 4 cc band, but I was losing restriction, so I made an appointment to see what the problem was. They withdrew all of my Fluid to measure it, and there was only 1.5 cc in the band. They put in 2.5 cc, and I have to go back next week to have it measured again. The PA I seen said she doesn't think it's a leak because she had good "vaccum" or suction when she was withdrawing the fluid. However, that cannot be ruled out just yet. She said the other thing that sometimes happens is if you have someone who isn't really careful when they give a fill, they can actually cause some fluid to leak back out while they are withdrawing the needle. And, I went to this yahoo fill doctor one time, the week that my restriction was lost, coincidentally - and I think that may be what happened. Hopefully, your problem is nothing that will require additional surgery - and mine too. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, while I have them crossed for me! I'm thinking of you.

skhopp - thanks for the reply. I'll say a little prayer that we both have no problems! My regular doctor is the one who did all my fills, but interestingly enough when he did the fill of 2 cc and I said I didn't feel any different he said, "It's pushing back at me." I remembered that after the fact. I think I feel some restriction now.

Keep me posted! Goodluck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
