Hi, I just had one done Oct. 15.

-first you get an IV with some contrast

-then you lay on a board for like 1/2 hour (while a scanner records the dye's movement through your liver and gallbladder)

-then they give you synthetic gallbladder hormones

-then you lay there some more

-then your done!

Good luck, its a little boring but its OK

I'm actually in the hospital right now. I had one done this morning. Same thing as Smartiegirl. Mine was painful when they had me lay on my left side, but I'm in for potential gallbladder problems, not because of my band. But the test itself is not painful, just boring!

Can ya'll tell me what symptoms ya'll had? I really think I'm having gallbladder problems. I had a CT scan and a sonogram and they still haven't found anything. But I'm in so much pain. And the pain comes and goes. It drives me crazy. Sometimes it wakes me up or prevents me from sleeping.< /p>

I have severe stabbing pains in the upper right abdomen. It is very bad after I eat solid foods, and can last from 2-8 hours constantly. When I lay down, the pain travels into my right shoulder. Since I've been in the hospital and haven't had solid food, the pain is just when I go from sitting to laying down, or with yawning/hiccups (any abnormal breathing). All my gallbladder tests have been negative, so they've brought in a GI doctor to try to find out whats going on.

my pain usually starts in my back like someone has their hand wrapped around my spine. Then I get a pain in my upper stomach area. Feels like I was kicked in the stomach a few times. I had an ultrsound sound and they found "sludge" in my bladder and need to see if there is any blockage or anything. Not really looking foward to it though.:smile2:

I had the test done a few years ago. If you are having gall bladder problems, the test will make you feel you feel sick. It brought on my symptoms, and I almost puked. It really feels pretty bad at that part of the test. The rest is very uneventful. You have to lay there for quite a while during the test. I hope that you get to the bottom of whatever is bothering you.

My final outcome was to have my gall bladder removed. They said that my gall bladder was not functioning. I had it removed about a week later. It wasn't bad. I felt normal after about 3 days. I hope that you feel better soon. I know gall bladder attacks are awful. Keep us posted.

I just got back from my HIDA scan. It was easy. I didn't have any attacks from it or anything.

Infact I slept through it. He didn't give me the results just said he was going to send it to my dr. Oh well.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
