HELP!! Food is getting stuck so easily!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone

I got a fill a few weeks ago. I am up to 5.5 cc. food gets stuck a few times a week. The pain is unbearable and could last for as little as 20 minutes up to 2+ hours. I will get the watery mouth, gag, vomit reflex, hiccups, etc. Is there anything that anyone has done to help relieve the pain while trying to pass the food? or is there anything you can do to make it pass? I do follow the rules...chew, chew, chew, small bites, all that stuff. I really don't want to have an unfill...any advice is greatly appreciated!

Sounds to me like you may be a little overfilled.....

Mix a little meat tenderizer with Water and sip on that, it helps to break down what is stuck.

Also you could sip on pinapple juice, it works!

Try eating your food on a really small plate, like a saucer. If you are eating too much that should help. If you really are eating only a tiny amount, and still getting stuck, it's time for an un-fill. You sound miserable and you need not be with the band. Don't risk a slip by throwing up too much.

It also depends on what you are eating...

Try standing up and walking around. Moving around always helps me.

I have a sensitive stomach, so if I pb I am prone to do it again in the near future. The only way I can keep it from continuing to happen is by going on fluids for a day and mushies/softer foods the next.

What are you eating after a PB? Also have you identified any specific foods that you are pb'ing on regularly. I know that something like bread will cause me to pb regardless.

APPLE CIDAR VINEGAR about 2 teaspoons in a glass of Water and I add honey to make it taste a bit sweet, but not necessary. Apple cider vinegar is the only thing that has helped me when I have been stuck.

My doctor gives out this recipe for when things get stuck. It should be 4 oz. warm Water with 1 tsp meat tenderizer and 1 tsp lemon juice. You sip it. I have tried it, it is OK.

Hello. You know what really helps me sometimes? Try and arch your self back a litle, and I stretch my arms back and up. It feels like I am stretching out my esophagus or something. I read this somewhere here on LBT before, I tried it and it works!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
