Hi,

It varies from surgeon to surgeon, and even patient to patient, so I suggest you consult with your surgeon. I am being banded on 1/12/09, and will begin my liquid diet on 12/29/08 - for me, it is Optifast shakes for Breakfast, lunch and Snacks, with vegatables and a shake for dinner. It will be tough, but I am looking at it as a jump start to my new life!

Good luck to you! When are you being banded?

I willbegin my pre-op liquid diet on Tuesday, Dec. 16. It consists of unlimited amounts of :Water, unsweetened tea/coffee, Crystal light-type drinks, sugar free popsicles, sugar-free fudgesicles, any type of broth Soup. Sugar-free Jello

Moderation: juice (apple, orange, grapfruit or tomato) or Gatorade 1 cup daily

Milk (skim, 1% or 3%) 12 cups daily

High Protein, low carb drink (Boost Glucose Control, Glucerna, Slim-Fast Optima, Carnation Instant Breakfast) 2 per day

Solid food: fruit (small piece of 1/2 cup canned fruit) 2 daily

Raw vegetables (carrots or celery) 2 cups daily

Dairy: 8 oz sugar-free yogurt(has splenda), 1/2 c cottage cheese (regular) or sugar-free pudding 3 per day

Doesn't seem that bad. Only for 7 days.

Liquid Drink:Besides water, acceptable liquids often include sugar-free flavored drinks, tea and sugar-free sport drinks. While you should drink plenty of fluids between meals, remember to avoid drinking liquids with meals and also diluted apple juice, chicken broth, beef broth, sugar-free gelatin, and artificially-sweetened non-carbonated beverages.
