Lost restriction 4 days after a fill.

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Can anyone explain this…? My doctor added an extra 2 cc to my 10 cc band a total 7 cc’s. I did the routine “drinking Water test” and I felt rather tight. The first two days after the fill I felt very restricted... and I was PB’ing.

A couple of days later I can eat pretty much anything I want as long as I chew well enough. I no longer have any restriction.

:tongue2:

You should be able to pretty much eat anything you want as long as you chew well enough. How much are you able to eat in a sitting and what are you eating?

Hi Jodi_620

I can eat a large plate of food including dessert… However, it does take me longer than usual.

The first two days after the fill I was stuffed after a few bites.

What type of food? Are you eating solid Protein and veggies? How long do you stay satisfied? How has your weight loss been?

Are you stopping when you are satisfied (not full)? You should be taking at least 20 minutes to eat and if there is still food on your plate after 30 minutes stop eating and wait until you are hungry (your stomach is rumbling) to eat again.

See what happens if you just measure out 3 oz. solid meat, 1/2 cup of veggies and if needed 1/2 cup fruit. No dessert. I do not use a dinner plate, I use a bread plate. Is your stomach still growling or do you just want more?

I do think that you are still not at proper restriction but the above is just checking to make sure you are doing your part. When you get a fill, does your doctor extract the saline to make sure that it is all there (no leaks)? Have you had a fill done under fluoro to make sure your band hasn't slipped?

It could simply be that you are going to need to wait longer to reach your sweet spot. The restriction right after a fill may just be swelling, that is why many people are not supposed to eat right after a fill...I have to do two days liquid, two days mushies then slowly build back up to solids.

I am also usually very tight two days after a fill, but it goes away. I do attribute it to swelling of my stomach at the band site. I can still eat what I want, just not as much, but if I'm careful, take my time, and chew enough, I can eat what I want. That is the whole point of the band to me, and it is doing what it is supposed to do, and as long as I'm doing what I'm supposed to do, I will lose weight and it will work for me, and it will work for you too!! Get your fills when you need them and take small portions to see how it goes. I still have the eyes are bigger than my stomach syndrome. I take way more than I will be able to finish most of the time. I am still getting used to not being able to eat a whole plate full of food like I used to. It is early on and we have to change the way we think about food and eating. It takes time.

I completely understand how you are feeling. How long does it take you all to feel your fill? I had my 3rd fill this past Tuesday. I could feel the swelling restriction and did liquids. Now I don't feel anything. I eat my Protein then veggies, but I am still hungry. I eat way more than I think I should and I have gained 2 pounds. WTH? I can still feel my liquid gurgling down my throat, but I don't get that satisfied feeling with food.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
