When do I know it's time for a first fill?

Recommended Posts

Hi Gang. Banded on 11/21/08 and already 22 pounds gone. I feel that I could eat anything now though. How do you know you are ready for a fill. I am on day 20 today and feel like I need more restriction. I havent tested any boundaries though as I am scared to get sick or throw up, so I am sticking to my diet and my small portions. I am hungry a couple of hours later though.

Any advice?:(

What does your fill doctor said. Mine wouldnt fill anyone until they are more than 5 weeks out. Some wouldnt fill you if you are losing the way you are losing so far. Each doctor has their own criteria. There is not one answer.

Iv just now had my 3rd fill and not sure it was necessary, as she said Im still tight and hardly filled me last time. I was banded July 9th.

I had my first fill in the doctor's office today at 4-week post-op. I told the doctor I am hungry, very hungry. I can eat and a couple hours later I am on the hunt for more food. Based on that and everything else going well, she gave me a fill ahead of schedule. She fills at 6-weeks post-op. I am not hungry any more. I am on fluids today and tomorrow and mushies on Friday and Saturday.:(

I had my first fill 3 weeks post op, and subsequent fills every 4 weeks. Your in the period that I consider bandster hell and will require lots of will power on your part. Just do your best until you have enough fills to achieve satisfactory restriction - which may take many months/fills... Fills tend to wear off/diminish within a couple of weeks, as you continue to lose weight.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
