Two fills and no restriction

Recommended Posts

Help! I have just come through Thanksgiving and a trip to Celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. I actually gained two pounds.

I can eat anything and in quite large quantities. My husband just looks at me after a meal and says -- "I guess this didn't work for you". It is so disheartening

Has anyone taken 3 or more fills to feel restriction?

On average it takes four fills. Can you go in for another yet?

Thanks for the reply. I'm going in for another fill on Thursday. Hopefully, something will kick in otherwise this was the most expensive failed weight loss attempt in my very long history.

Nah, just be patient and keep going in for fills until you reach restriction...you'll get there! When were you banded?

I was banded on Sept 11 and am down about 20lb. All of that weight was lost while I was on liquids. This morning I got on the scale (my arch enemy) and practically wanted to crawl back in bed and pull the covers over my head when I discovered a two pound gain.

Instead, I'll go to the gym today, make another fill appointment and admit that the party is over.

I was banded Sept 3rd 2008 and as of yesterday have had my 3rd fill and still do not have restriction!! I was hoping yesterday was the day and stillnothing but the good news is I stayed the same in between appointments but as you are I am frustrated with not loosing in that month time frame but I am holding on to the 50 pounds I have lost which is not from the band it is from me measuring my 3 oz of meat and my 1/2 cup veggies and another 1/2 cup fruit.

I hope to get motivated soon to stick to measuring my food, exercise and not drinking fluids while I eat. I am doing it now but with out results I know I will loose interest very soon!!!

Good luck

It's not the number of fills alone that makes a difference; it's how much Fluid the doctor is injecting with each fill, plus the size of your band, plus your own physical characteristics and how you react to the band.

It took my husband five fills. My daughter had even more. The number isn't important (well unless you are paying for the fills, and then it is a pain); just keep going back in until this tool works for you.

I have heard it can take up to 10 fills for some people to have good restriction. Dont give up. everyone is different. some people dont need a single fill while others need 10. Its all individual. good luck and dont give up. you will hit that magic spot!! :)

I feel your pain!!!! I was banded Sept 12, and have been fighting the same 5 pounds for two months! I do not go up at least between fills, that is the only thing I have to be thankful for. I have my third fill Dec 30, hoping this will get me close. I was tight through thanksgiving and that was great, I loved being able to leave food on my plate, but that wore off quickly once the swelling had gone down from getting the fill. I don't feel hungry sometimes for hours and hours, other days I'm hungry all day. We just have to be patient and keep getting our fills until the day we KNOW we are in the right place. Good luck!!

I have had only one fill so far but lost 18 lbs or so in 4 weeks by eating what they told me to and measuring my food. You have to make some changes in your lifestyle for this to work.

Pure restriction on food alone will not help if you are eating what you ate before. I have eaten no bread, no Pasta, no rice, no chocolate, no potatoe chips, no soft drinks, nothing fried and little alcohol.

My waist has dropped 4 inches if that is not enough to keep me going then what is  The fills will help I am sure but you must restrict yourself to make this thing work. It's not nice to be hungry but it wont kill you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
