Just in case any of you need a good laugh, I'll tell you the story of my first fill today....

Background: I was banded Nov. 17. Ten minutes before surgery my doctor explained how he doesn't put any fill in during surgery because of potential swelling. I'm 3 weeks out today. For the last week and a half I've been able to eat almost like I used to (no bread, no diet coke, a bit less though).

So I get called back and the nutritionist puts me on the scale and asks about my eating. She says I'm doing well, puts me in an exam room and leaves. Doctor comes in, reviews my stats and says, "ok, well I put 5cc's in when I put in your band because the band was too big." I was shocked, but just nodded and said ok. Then he all too quickly ran through what was about to happen with the fill - lay down, shot to numb, inject saline, drink Water, leave. That is what I heard, in that order! So, I lay down and we begin talking about pain/soreness, etc as he sticks me with the first needle to numb! I screamed OUCH! and he said, "Oops sorry forgot to warn ya it was coming!" That kinda loosened me up and made me laugh, but nothing prepared me for what was to come....

Next thing I know, here comes needle #2. So I'm laying there, trying not to think about the needle and then he moves the table extension from under my legs and shoves his hand in front of my face. The look on my face was obvious confusion, as he said "take my hand and sit up." I said "um, so yeah, that needle is still in my stomach!" He laughed and said "yes, and now you need to sit up and drink water." I slowly sat up, giving him that "you're f'ing nuts!!!" look, and took the water. He told me to take 2 big gulps and let him know if it goes down, or would come up. The water just sat there in my throat. It was the oddest feeling EVER! He looked at me and said "well?" All I could do was mutter some noise to say "i dunno" cause frankly I was scared that if I opened my mouth it would all come back up! Eventually it slid down, thankfully. At this point I begged him not to make me too tight, so he only ended up giving me 1cc, to make my current total 6cc. All in all, slightly traumatic, but not as painful as I expected! And in hindsight, quite comical for the doctor and the nurse!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
