6 days post op and hardly able to eat...help!

Recommended Posts

Awe, I'm sorry you feel like that. You will be just fine. Trust me, I regretted it for 2 weeks after the surgery. Now after 3 months, I feel great and steadily losing. It is tough in the beginning though. This too shall pass. Yes, to my surprise during my first fill I believe they said I had .3 cc's in my band already. I was shocked. Hang in there and stay positive, everything will be alright. Congrats on your life changing surgery. :)

Hi,

I was just banded on New Year's Eve so I'm only 3 days out and in pain even with pain medication. I take a tiny sip of Water (or anything) and it hurts trying to get through my stomach. I had to be readmitted to the hospital New Year's Day where they got me out of pain and pumped me full of liquids. The Doctor finally showed up the next morning and took the fill out of my band. That was news to me, that they put them in with some fill already in it. Anyway, it helped at that moment but after a few hours at home I was still having pain when sipping water. The pain is not as severe as it was when I went back to the hospital but it is certainly painful enough that I don't want to sip anything and I don't think this is how it is supposed to be. Can anyone give me some insight? I've already been through the no straw, only Clear Liquids, very small sips.......and trust me I haven't wavered. I am regretting this procedure already! Help.

Weezy

Thank you for sharing, I have no idea what it is going to be like after my surgery, I just know I don't want to do anything to mess it up. If I can chew a chip and then spit it out, I am cool with that. I see you are going to get your first fill on the 19th. Please post and let us know how that goes for you.

Hang in there, this time next year, you will be a hot 100lbs lighter!

NO!!! DONT DO IT ... chewing a chip and spitting it out can become a very dangerous habit... it's called Mastication... and even though you think you are getting rid of everything, your saliva causes your stomach to churn and that's one of the points of the post op diet ... as little churning as possible...

losingjusme thanks for reminding all of us that it is dangerous for us to get sloppy with our eating habits. I had the first follow up with my Dr yesterday and he was delighted that I had lost 3lb in the 10 days since surgery. He will do my first fill on the 1/26 and I am ready. I have really not had a problem staying on the food plan because I see this a long term life style change. I have lost weight before but have never been able to keep it off. I have to believe that this is the answer.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
