Where's your port

Recommended Posts

My best friend and I had our surgeries on the same day, last tues dec. 2. Of course we're on the phone constantly... well, she got me thinking because she said "What a stupid place to put a port" Our port is about 4" to the right of our bellybuttons in line with the bellybutton! Her reason for the "stupid place" is because that's where most jeans and dockers sit! I didn't realize this because I'm still in sweats and have them pulled up over all of my incisions!

Mine is to the lower right side of my abdomen, above my waist and low enough where my bra wont irritate it or my pants dont rub on it, no problems at all with the location. Seems as every physician puts it in a different spot from what i've read.

That is strange - I thought that was where mine would be. Turns out it is right in the middle of my chest between my bellybutton and breast bone.

Actually, I would prefer mine to be there. After my first fill last Saturday it would have been much better to see the needle down there than sticking out from the middle if my chest :--)

I guess that it is all up to the doctor.

My port is about four inches from the belly button, but to my left side. It is below my waist. No were near the bra area. I cannot feel it...the scar does not bother me.

My surgery was on Nov. 25th. My port is on the left. about 2 inches above my belly button.

I wonder if they look around for the perfect spot? I had a few other abdominal surgeries and maybe this is the place with the least scare tissue.

well let me say mine WAS about 3 inches from my natural waist to the right of the belly button but I have found the more weight I lose the higher it gets now its about 6 inches from my waist and still on the right of my belly button.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
