New and disappointed in it all so far

I had surgery on Jan 28 and lost 12 lbs post surgery from 296 to 284. I have lost no more weight. I have had my port flip and before they figured that out I went through 4 "B horror movie" fills one lasting 45 minutes while they stabbed at my tummy in seach of the port. I finally got my first real fill when they did the surgery to flip the port. 1cc and I just got a 1/2 again last week. I feel no change and am so disappointed. My surgery center and doctor have NO support what so ever on this process. Should I worry or should I get another fill? What is an average fill amount? I hate to sound so blue but it has become a nightmare. Thanks for listening.

Iam sorry to hear you are so discouraged. Here is a helpful site that may help tp answer your question about another fill

http://lapbandtransformation.com/Adjustments.htm

Well all knew going into this that the band was not a magic wand, it is a tool to help us. There are other issues you need to look at, like emotional eating or mental hunger, how do you do with those things?

Are you eating more Proteins then carbs? Staying away from the junk food? Drinking a minimum of 64 oz of Water a day? All of these things are very important to us bandsters for success. Dont get discouraged, yet you only have 1.5 cc's in your band you may need another fill

Remember the saying, Just because we can does not mean we should. There are plenty of days when I can eat, but it doesnt mean I should. This is where your head has to come in an do some of the work. We can not rely on the band to do it all. I too only have 1.5 cc's in my band which does not mean you and I have the same level of restriction just means I have 1.5 cc's in my band. Hang in there. Dont give up! :D

I'm sorry to hear you're having such a rough time of it.

If it makes you feel any better, I had NO restriction, and hence NO weight loss with a fill at 2.0 cc's. In fact, it took until I was at 2.6cc's to feel liek the band was working for me.

The band is a tool, and the tool will only work right if it is 'tuned-up'. Most people need 3 -5 fills to feel any restriction. Those who are restricted and lose weight earlier than that are simply lucky and should count their blessings.

Get a fill, and keep getting fills every 4 to 6 weeks until you feel that the band is working for you. If we could do this all with our heads, none of us would have needed the band.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
