How Do You Deal With Head Hunger ?

Recommended Posts

NJCHICK - Don't get nervous yet there is a long time between where you are and getting ready for surgery. First you have to have some tests done. The process will probably take a couple of months- so calm down. Take your time. Wait and get nervous when you get a surgery date. Good luck to ya.

After being banded a week, I am STILL fighting head hunger, big time. I'm ashamed to admit I've actually drank liquid with the few meals I've had that wern't liquid, so that I could eat more. I've also had my way with a few plain M&M's... Maybe after the soreness has stopped I'll feel like moving around more and that will help. Head hunger is the WORST- how I hope to love the band like so many others on this board do.

At this point (off liquids) I make deals with myself. When I really want to eat something (and this is naturally limited to what I have in the house so there's no question of eating cake or ice cream--or cheese) I tell myself that if I still want it I can eat if AFTER I walk around the block or run on the elliptical for 8+ minutes. Often after exercising I don't even want whatever it is; but if I still DO--then I go ahead and eat it without guilt.

It's surprising how quickly many cravings pass if you just ride them out.

head hunger is a tuff one..... You can beat it its a hard road 95% of the time I can control it. I have to force my self to eat some times and that is not good eather, the other 5% I, am like a shark looking for the candy or any thing sweet!

Good luck next time your feeling that you have to eat something drink a large glass of Water it works for me!

take care God bless.

Im finding it very hard to deal with head hunger. It is alot easier with restriction but I still find myself thinking and wishing I could have certain foods...then because I have thought about it makes me want it then I cant fight the urge so I have it and console myself with the fact that since I am not eating much of it its ok. I have a long way to go with dealing with head hunger issues and emotional eating issues. Dont get me started on the smoking buso.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
