I had my surgery on 11/10 and was on post op diet for about 1 week and a half. Since then I have lost about 11 lbs. Now I am eating and haven't had my first fill yet. I am trying to stick to the 1/2 cup rule and making healthy choices but I haven't lost any weight since the initial liquid diet. I am now worried that even when I get my first fill, what if I don't lose the weight then? How can it be so different then when I am eating the diet (1/2 cup of food each meal) now? Was all this for nothing? I get my first fill next week.

Batestami,

I am in pretty much in the same boat. I had surgery on 11/13. Since that date, I have lost about 12 lbs. I'm hungry and I can pretty much eat anything. I've gone back to counting calories (I use fitday.com to keep track of my calories) and am trying to get under 1100-1200 calories a day.

Its very frustrating as I see people losing lots more. I don't get a fill until 12/23. I certainly hope that makes a big difference, otherwise, I worry that the lapband was worthless.

I feel exactly the same as you do. Hopefully we will notice a difference when the band is filled. Like Jack had said that we won't be hungry, I look forward to that feeling because right now it doesn't even feel like I have a lap band. My doctor had told me that I would start to feel like eating was a bother since you aren't even hungry. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope so. Good luck to everyone and I would like to thank everyone for all their help. Without this website, it would be a long and lonely road.

I'm glad i'm not the only one! I had surgery on Tues and I'm not hungry most of the time. As a matter of fact my mom came over last night to cook dinner for my family and I got naseated smelling the food. But I woke up about 4 this morning wanting SOMETHING! Now I'm scared that I did this for nothing cause I'm really not sure what to do or eat.

I'm so grateful for this site, I am just keeping it real with the Protein, my surgery was 11/21 and since I have been measuring the weight loss since the 10 days on liquids prior to the surgery I have lost 26 lbs . I bought the little bitty tuna things ( I could have eaten the 4 pack before) and that is what I had for lunch. Milk has been a big help who would have thought I would be a Milk drinker but I am! Thanks so much for always posting your thoughts this site has really helped me find some useful information before and after my surgery.:whatchutalkingabout

I was banded 11/14 and I hae been feeling the same way. Now that swelling is down and all of that I keep thinking "is this really going to work?" I have not had a fill yet, my surgeon does not do one until 8 weeks post op. I am nervous. Yet I also knwo this is the time for healing however I wouldnt be human if I wasnt a little bit dissappointed.

I keep telling myself yes this will be worth it. I continue to exercise so that it becomes a part of my life. Right now I coudl eat way more than 1/2 cup of food.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
