Just saying hello all-

bad news - unemployment is making me have a phone interview bfore they release my money. Nov 12th is the day!!! I have ZERO MONEY until they decide. So I cant pay for Cobra once my insurance stops Nov 1....I have had NOTHING but bad luck these past 2 weeks, I am so down, and pretty much have given up on the banding...I just don't see it happening unless I get the unemployment ASAP, but then I will be behind on bills, my car, etc. by that time...*sigh* sorry to vent my personal life......

Hope you all are doing well...

tam

Tamra these are indeed difficult times. Can you call them and tell them that you can't wait? Also how much is your cobra? Call me i will send you my number. I just got through hiring for an assistant and other positions. You live pretty far so that may not have worked anyway. The good Lord blesses all of us in different ways, therefore we have to bless someone else no matter how big or how little. Call me or send me your number. I was off line and received your LB post and felt the need to respond.:cursing: Al will be well Sis .

Good Afternoon Peps!

I am banded~ It wasn't so bad. The worst part was the IV and the gas in my left shoulder. I am a tiny bit sore and I imagine it will get worse tomorrow. I just took my first dose of liquid Vicodin. I am going to try to take a nap in a few minutes. That hospital sleep is not the best. My house is quiet. The hubby is outside messing with his bike and my kids are safe, elsewhere. They will be spending a few nights at my moms! Thank God for her. I could not imagine life without her.....

I was finished at around 10:10am and in recovery for 1 1/2 hours. Next I did the x-ray.... Then Dr Fisher came about 12:40pm and discussed the procedure with me. I had a hernea that he repaired/removed. Didn't know! I was released at 1:00pm and home at 2:00pm. I am still reeling and cant believe it's done!

Thanks for all the support! I will check in later.

Opps, I forgot to say that I have 4cc's in my band....it's half way full!

Also, I have a question??????

I am hungary! Can I drink more broth/liquid than 1oz/hour if it doesn't hurt! How much did you all really drink.

Can I have Gas X strips???????

Monique - good to see you on the band-side! Ah, 4cc's!! I was told I have roghly 2.5 to 3.0 cc's - I'm jealous! so glad it's done - you will be sore tomorrow! but don't tripp, it will be better & better every day after that.

I wish I could answer your questions but I didn't drink anything - I really didn't want anything.

Nicollie - 14 days will go by swiftly! Then it's all down hill after that - woo hoo

Oh, I just remembered.... I see Doc Fisher tomorrow for my first follow up appointment. Lets assume I will get a fill..... What are the rules - no food after midnight? Clear Liquids only??? I can't belive they didn't mention any of that to me... Hmmmm?

Candra, the rule before a fill isn't a biggie...just no food 6 hours before your appt. liquids are not restricted. Good luck! I hope you get a fill and start to really know you have a band in there!

Monique - Congratulations! I am impressed that you logged on after coming home. Interesting how the band fill amounts vary by person. Dr. Park told me they only come in 2 sizes, so I guess they must fill based on getting it to fit properly. Anyway, hang in - Candra and Jess have been great to follow since they just did it a month ago.

Canolie - you will soon join Analynn and me on the 1200 Cal ride - it works but I'm not finding it easy. I get hungry and do get cravings, which so far I'm just trying to ignore. The exercise seems to help. Analynn and I are trying to get to our surgery weight goal and the last half is harder than the first half!

Beatriz - good luck. It will be good to be on here going through this with Monique. Thinkin' positive thoughts for you.

Candra - how are you doing with your 4 meals? Did you like my comment about the Best Psych Question not being about the presidents but How Many People Are in This Room? Some days I'm just not sure!!

Chris - how are you feeling with the little one inside?

All - have a good night. I'll be at the Kaiser Richmond Support group tomorrow night - hope see Jess.

Hello All

Just working and trying to stay on course. My band is to tight the last few days. So weird it suddenly tightened up..........it has been three weeks.

But doing the liquid thing. I have lost 5 pounds but I need to lose more so I can loosen this thing up a bit....

They announced more layoffs today. 45 in CPS. But no forloughs. I think I will survive this cut too. But barely and I probably will get another transfer..........this is riduculous all this moving from job to job.

Well headed for a bubble bath and bed soon :-)

Hang in there Tamra I totally hear ya girl!! Try to call Kaiser and see what they say..............

Thanks Chris - I just ate dinner so I feel better about the 6 hour rule!

Pat - yeah I did like that - did you say two or three - I had thought about saying three - you know, me, her & my appitite but didn't want to risk it. as it was, she said that i'm "not typical of the people she usually sees". Glad you passed the psych test LOL.

Tina - don't know how you're sticking to just liquids. congrats on the 5lbs girlie

Donna - where/how are you?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
