Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

hey ladies, back from the group meeting. Well for some reason Bev was not there so we had Liz leading the group. She didn't exactly follow the 'protocol' and we ended up not being able to talk with other members in fact it was kind of boring; but I'll let Candra tell her side of the story since she's so colorful LOL

Chris post the recipe on the social group page it sounds good. I forgot about that. We should do that esp things we want to refer back to.

oh the best part of the meeting was meeting Tamra in person LOL

whoa we have 11 people on here.

Nicole, I think the sauce would be awesome, but I'd maybe do parmesan instead of cheddar, don't you think? Good idea! Maybe I'll try that next week.

I can get together for lunch next week either Tues, Thurs or Friday. Now that a lot of us are getting to our sweet spot we're gonna seriously have to split some plates...possibly 3 ways!

I'm curious about how my weigh in will go tomorrow, usually our fill appts are early in the morning. Plus I'm supposed to start my period either today or tomorrow so I know I'm a bit bloated...ugh.

Go Nicole Go, dayyyy 2! Good for u! Are the legs sore?

Hope the fill goes well for all who go tomorrow! Seems like you all are coming close to the sweet spot, possibly?

Isn't it 6 mos out for some of you, they usually do a blood test to ck on how everything inside is doing, also for vitamins! (thanks Nicole, she reminded while back)

(Tamra...hope u can make it Sat too!)

Looking forward to Saturday, scheming up things!

Thanks C - for the great idea, lol.

Have a good Thurs morn, and come back to tell us

I heard rumors that Kaiser makes you wait almost a year between when you first tell you doctor about wanting the surgery and when you actually get your surgery. I'm guessing this is false? It just depends on when you lose your 10%?

I decided yesterday to get the surgery and I meet with my doctor to discuss it tomorrow. I'm super nervous and hope I can get approved!

Hi SaZu! NO it's not a year - I asked my doc for a referral in October, had my orientation in November, had my surgery in February and am now down over 100 lbs less than a year from when I started the process. Yes it depends on how fast you lose that 10%! So go for it! Best thing I ever did for myself

Tamra my scale says all kinds of different things, I just keep getting in it until it says what I think it should! J/K, I do weigh at least twice and if I don't get the same weight I keep doing it until I get 2 in a row the same . . the first weight is almost always the lowest though, but sometimes I just don't believe it so I get on again and it says something different! It's messing with my mind . . . .

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
