I had my Lap-band on Nov 17th! This is my first time on this site, I hope it helps! I can eat more than they said I could, I hope my first fill helps with this.

Hi Sassy, welcome!! Before you get any fills, it is easier to eat more than you should. It takes most of us several fills before we get to the "sweet spot" of good restriction......but some get there with less.

Even though it is difficult, try not to challenge the band by eating more than you should. It will get easier as you get some fills.

I too am hungry and seem to be able to tolerate more than normal food. In all my paperwork there are different amounts you should be eating a day. I still worry about stretching the pouch. I am losing and dont know if I will get a fill on the 10th of Dec. when I see Dr. next.

Is this really all normal? I am 3 wks post op today.

thanks

shelley

I too am afraid of stretching my pouch, I stressed my concern but was told as long as I do not go beyond the feeling of fullness or do not eat more if I get something stuck that I will be fine. I am not sure as well??

Your first few fills will for sure help with this. Everyone is different but for me, it took 3 fills until I really started noticing that I was eating a lot less and then I started losing weight like crazy! Be patient, it will work!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
