Where is your port?

Recommended Posts

Mine is right above my navel. I was expecting it to be higher up and off to one side -- that is what the dr. said at the info. sessions. I'm going to ask why he put it there at my follow-up on Wednesday (just curious).

Where is yours?

I spoke with my Doc. about port placement and he said he puts the ports kinda under mid upper breast bone area. He said he does it there to reduce the chances of ports flipping.

Mine is about 2 inches above my bellybutton and to the right. Very good spot for it my pants hit well below it and it just seems like a very good spot.

My surgeon places the band about 2 inches below my boobs, in the middle. He said he used to place it 2 inches below and to the left, but he has found over the years that the middle is a better place for it, for whatever reason. I like where mine is, though I'm paranoid about wearing panty hose this weekend to the Company Christmas Party. Typically, the Control Top panty hose come up over my belly and end right where my port site is, haha. This should be fun......

In completely unrelated news, MY GOODNESS I'm starving. This is Bandster Hell I imagine. My fill is Friday and can't get here fast enough!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am wearing nylons for the first time today and haven't had any problems even though the top hits right above my port.

Mine is on the right about two inches above my navel. I got my first fill yesterday, then went home and put on pantyhose to go to my work holiday party and had no problem. In fact it felt really nice to dress up.

Mine is also about 2 inches above my navel. I had surgery on the 20th and the port site is still sore. I have started wearing my pants without the button fastened, As it is uncomfortable to button.

Mine is about two inches above and to the left of my belly button. I am having no port pain now at all. Figuring on having a bit tomorrow, though. Get my first fill at 2:30 in the afternoon! Woohoo!

All of my incisions are now fading and barely noticable but my scars tend to always heal quickly and fade fast.

Mine is the same exact spot. It helps so that pants are not irratating it.

Mine is barely right of center (my right, not your right) and 5" below the sternum and 5" above my belly button.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
