Getting upset or stressed out

Recommended Posts

Since I have been banded, I have noticed that when I get really stressed out or am in a really upsetting situation, it feels like my band cinches up on me, and gets me almost sick to my stomach. Does anyone else get a feeling like this? What the heck is this all about? Any clues??

I haven't experienced this, but I'm pretty laid back as a general rule. Lastnight was really stressful (JFK Airport is amazingly loud!) and my band wasn't happy, but I was also dealing with residual heat issues.

This is something interesting to watch though.

Stress does it, the weather does it, being dehydrated does it, heck, probably the moon does it. For the most part, it's related to Water retention, but I don't know why stress does it. I actually had to go get a little unfill because I had a very stressful family thing going on and I just couldn't eat ANYTHING. I was really too tight to begin with and eating mostly mushy stuff, or chowdery Soups, but this thing hit and it was liquids all the way. *shrug*

Thanks for the input. Glad to know Im not alone...too bad we have to deal with it, but I wouldn't change my band for anything. Guess its just a good reason to try and remain calm....Like vinesqueen How you do it mamma! Good for you! Heres something else that was a little weird. I went to a concert the other night...ROB ZOMBIE....and the music was really loud. I swore that the bass was bouncing off my band. I thought I felt the thing vibrating in there...WEIRD FEELING! That just could have been the reverb going thru me and my mind playing tricks on me, I dunno...but it felt WEEEIIRD..I like all things weird though. :D I will talk to you later!

Stress can make a huge difference & major tightening. When my dh was in the hospital, I'd walk through the doors & feel my stomach clenchng up! I had to have a partial unfill it was so bad.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
