Hello, I'm not sure why I didn't think to seek out the message board months ago. But I'm here now :cursing: I'm having my lap band surgery on Tuesday. Any last minute advice is always welcome!

Hello, this is my first time on a site like this. I have never blogged before or anything like that. I wanted to wish you good luck on your surgery. I was also wondering is it very exspensive? I am on a fixed income and can not afford to be in the hosiptal. The only insurance i have at the moment is Medicade and i am not sure if they would pay for the surgery. And i am kind of scared of having surgery.

Congrats on entering bandland.

As far as any advise, follow what the doc says.

Bring a pillow to the hospital, the ride home you can hug it and going over the bumps won't be as bad. Make sure you try and relax tommorow, the calmer you are the easier this will be. ( I know, hard thing to do) My last word of advice is surround yourself with people who support you.

This is the beginning of your new life , enjoy it.:confused:

GOOD LUCK!!!!!:cursing::thumbup::blushing:

Thank you! I have an HMO so my out of pocket expense is only $150. Call and find out if Medicare cover it you might be suprised.

My surgery went very well, I feel great!

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

      Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
