Shrinkin' Violets Part 3 Read HERE!

Good evening, Violets..

I'm back from Community Chorus and relaxing with the lap top while I wait for CSI:Miami to come on. I'd love to watch DWTS, but the Bobster would leave and go upstairs cause he doesn't like watching that "stuff", so I bite my tongue and watch Rachel Maddow with him and at least spend time together. Besides I'm having fun on Facebook.

Yep Tracy, the countdown to Hawaii is at 4 today. I started counting in July when I got on the cruisecritic board. I'm meeting Renee, Shirley and Patty at 5:30 at the Aloha Cafe. Fun, Fun, FUN!!

CSI is on, so I'll chat with you all tomorrow. Have a good evening. sleep well!

Hi Girls~

I just emailed everyone (I hope everyone) some pix from the wedding and one from Sat. night! Please let me know if you don't get 'em...and if you want 'em. I ordered over 400 pix tonight...and I FINALLY DELETTED MY CARD!!! AAAHHH...still had xmas pix on there! I feel sooo much better. I am putting an album together for Susanne's coach and so I've taken tons of pix and bought some softball stickers at Michaels this weekend. Should be cute, but hella expensive!!!

Got my teeth cleaned and then we went to dinner. I love having dates w/ Susanne. She is my #1 person!

Michelle...enjoy the fill!!!

TracyKS...nice to "see" you albeit brief:tt2:

I am home, safe and sound! We had some snow packed roads and drove in snow for awhile, but nothing too bad.

Got my fill, he was not smug about my weight gain, he actually said for a year unfilled, with the surgery in the middle, it was not bad....shock!

I have the 9.75 band that holds a max of 4 cc.'s and he gave me 1.5, Water is a slow go today, but I figure part of that may be that I ate lunch prior to the fill and that can make it extra tight for the digestion time he said.

So happy to get back in the right direction!!!

Judy, when my parents celebrated 25 years, they planned a trip to Hawaii, and the month before they left, my brother was critically injured, and was actually still in the hospital long after they had planned to go. So the trip got put off. They ended up going for their 35th or something, and the tour guide at the Fern Grotto, included them in a marriage vow renewal! They loved it. Then they went back a few times when Manda lived there--we all did!! Was the only affordable way to do it frequently! If you get the chance to ever spend time on Oahu hit the Polynesian Culture Center, and the International Market Place. They also have an incredible flea market (although it is all new items through vendors---not used yard sale type sellers) at the Aloha Bowl football field.

We spent most of our vacations on Oahu because that is where they were based, but I loved Kauai the most, for the tropical feel. The year the hurricane hit it, my Aunt & Uncle were on the island!! But all in all I had the most fun on the beaches of Maui. I wish I was going back with you!!!

No sign of the guy out back. He has no idea where we went today---we left before 7----and just got home, I am sure after I have been so mad at him, he is concerned....makes me smile!!!

Well I am exhausted, and going off to bed. Will catch up with all of you tomorrow.

Haydee, so glad you are home and had a wonderful time!!!

We listened to a Sue Grafton book on the way home---so Ifeel like my bedtime story has been read to me, time to sleep!!!

Feel better Jenn!

LOVED, LOVED the pics Pamela!!!

Hello, I had a busy day today, but it was nice. I had an appointment first with my regular Dr. just for a check up, I have been on Effexor (antidepressant) and it is just too expensive, so I took the walgreens list of $4 drugs and he gave me generic prozac. Does anyone here know about prozac? I hope it works. He said alot of the other drugs cause weight gain.

Then I went to a friends house and we met another friend at the casino here, we didn't gamble at least with money, we just ate, and ate, and ate, and then talked and then ate, ..... You get the idea!! We were all bad girls!!!

It was nice to get together with old friends, we have all been friends since high school. Really nice day!!

Now I am going to bed!!

Glad you are back Haydeee!!

Nice to see you TRACYKS!!

Good morning, Vi's~~

Y'know, I don't feel any diff w/the fill so far... I keep expecting to "feel" something... different... I dunno... for example, this a.m. I tossed back my handful of vits & pills w/a big chug of Water like I always do, and then thought, "Oh no! My fill! I hope they don't get stuck or come back up!!" But no, nope, nothing... went down slick as a whistle.... hmmmmmmm...

Lots of work -- paying, volunteering, & the house kind -- to do today. Am going to do the weight circuit @ the Y, too.

Make it a good one, dearies!

Michelle - Whenever I get a fill it's kinda like that, too. I don't really feel any difference right at first but it DEFINITELY gets tighter as the days roll by, peaking at about 10 days and then slacking off a bit after that. Don't ask me why that is, but lots of people say the same thing.

Suzie - Good for you working out so hard!!

I've been having a lot of problems sleeping lately. Ok, so there's ANOTHER reason I should work out!! It sure helps me sleep at night. <sigh> Remember when I used to be known as the Gym Nazi? Where is that girl?????

Where is Heather?? Yeah, and it's a lot quieter without Laura and Haydee, but they're both just getting back from being out of town so you know how that goes.

Morning Girlies~

I agree...kinda quiet around these parts.

Back from the gym! Yea me! I agree Terry, it completely helps me sleep. Actually, I am a better teacher when I work out. My energy level is up, and this transfers to the lessons and the students. Usually I take Wed. off, but I want to go tomorrow so I can do cardio...I am loving cardio! Hate doiong it...but love how I feel the rest of the day. HAHA...yes me, the former heavy smoker saying "I am loving cardio!"

Glad you liked the pix. Felt great just to clean up the camera. Had pix from "waybackwhen" and now I have a clean card! I loved the one of Sus and I at the wedding (I am wearing black and white). That is the desktop pic now:rolleyes:

OK...Haydee and Laura...come out come out where ever you are!

Michelle...glad to hear you fill is goiong along well. I agree w/ Terry that about 7-10 days out is when I feel it.

Have a great day!

That's right! You WERE the gym nazi, weren't you, Terri. Hmmmmmmm... what will get you going again??

I'm just trying to be regular w/the exercise, and it seems to be working... altho I've been having sleep issues lately, too. What's up w/so many of us having that prob? Spring? I wake up around 3am just about every night & then it takes (what feels like) forever to get back to sleep... seriously, an hour or more... cuz' once my brain gets engaged, it starts pinballing all over the place w/things to do, fret about, and remember.

Morning Girls.

I got to sleep in and it feels good. I guess all that working out wore me out. Today I think hubby and I are going to go check out a fitness center that is about a mile from here. Thye are open 24/7. The Y cost 47 dollars a month just for the hubby to go. I'm gonna see what they have for a couple's rate. I need to downsize in two different ways.

Pam, Love the pics. You and Susanne are just too cute together. I love the one of you guys sitting at the table. The couple that got married are adorable.

Kat, glad you had a safe trip and hopefully th OB guy took you guys being gone as a hint to get out.

Hubby and I have to go to city hall and get new tags for the truck. Gonna do it today and not at the end of the week and have to stand in a long line.

I have a fill next monday, hopefully. So I'm pushing Water till than. I will update my ticker than. I'm just 2 pounds away from it being correct. I'll wait till I get on the Doc's scale and see what it says.

Michelle, Sometimes when I get a fill it's days before I start to feel it working. Just one day I get up and all of a sudden I can't get my pills down. Hang in there.

I have to work later today, but I'll check in before I go.

Have a great day.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
