Where are you feeling full?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 11/19th. I find that when drinking - I'm not feeling full in my stomach but more in my esophogus. Is that what everyone else is experiencing? I only ask because whenever I get a cold, I get that same feeling when eating or drinking - it's like the post nasal drip is clogging up that area and this was way before surgery ever took place. I can't blow my nore right now because it's too painful.

If you are feeling full in your esophagus, it could be that you are either drinking to fast for it to go through the stoma and it is backing up into your esophagus, OR you are drinking too much and it is backing up in your esophagus. When I eat too fast, it clogs my throat. You may want to watch it for a little. Slow down a little and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks - nothing is coming up - but I have to lie down after a few sips and then I feel better. I haven't been able to drink more than a few sips at a time. I thought I was going slow but maybe not slow enough

I would say it is due to the initial swelling from surgery. I had that too for the first few days and then it got better. Be sure to sip slowly and it should ease it.

It also could be because of the air working its way out of your system. I constantly felt like I needed to burp for the first few days everytime I toop a sip of anything.

I thought about the possible swelling after I posted my response. Sistasassy is right, it will get better. We will always have to go slow, but so far it was worse in the beginning. Also, depending on your doctor, you may have a little bit of fill in your band. Not all doctors do that, but if your doctor did, that would make the swelling that much more pronounced. I noticed that sipping on warm liquid like broth seemed to help me. Just keep taking it slow. I hope that you start to feeling better soon.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
