I was banded on the 20th with the realize band.

I don't have any hunger right now.......I have been drink Water and Protein Shakes, and also creamed Soup. The hardest part is to eat. I am so scared about what I have done.

I am tired. I am still in the recovery mode.

I plan on going for a walk later. My port site is very uncomfortable... is that normal.

I was banded on 10/23 and also have the Realize Band. I don't have much discomfort now, but when I first had the surgery I did feel a little twinge where the port was inserted if I flipped wrong in the bed at night or try to lay on my stomach, but now eveyrthing is fine. I think the sweeling is longer than I expected, but don't second guess yourself you will be okay. Good Luck

I have been in the process for almost 3 months now and have not been specific about which band I want. My dr uses the allergan and Realize. I met someone at a group nutrition appt and she mentioned some of the benefits of the after care with the Realize Band. I will discuss this with my doctor and see what he thinks is best for me. Does anyone know if their insurance covers one and not the other? I checked my benefits statement and it does not differentiate. I do like being able to log my food journal so he can have access to it and track my progress. I'm glad this specific forum is here for Realize banders.

Hey, Keri, You sound perfectly normal to me. I was banded Aug. 4 and couldn't eat solid food for several weeks. My band gave me restriction from the beginning. :P

As far as being tired, girl, you've just had surgery! Rest and take it easy for a couple of weeks. If you can swing it, get some extra sleep each night.

My port site was so sore at a week's time I went back to my doc. He inspected it and assured me everything was looking great. He did then prescribed an abdominal binder. It is a big elastic band that I wore for about another week and it helped a lot. :)

Hang in there, it gets better and better! :w00t:

My port site was sore for the first 2-3 weeks. That is totally normal. It is also normal to have "buyers remorse", to not know if this was the right decision. But you have to look at the pros. I'm a month out and down 30lbs!!!! I have NEVER been able to loose weight well and now look!!!! WOW!!! The first few days to a week are tough, but you can get through it!!! We are all here for you. It really does get better at about day 3 or 4 post op. Keep us up to date on your progress! Congrats and welcome to band land!!! Kelli

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
