3rd Fill Yesterday - Maybe a little tight

Recommended Posts

I had my third fill yesterday and I'm hoping that I didn't get too much. The NP at my surgeon's office gave me one more cc and I had no problem drinking, then she put in another cc and the belches started. We agreed on withdrawing 0.5 ccs and I could swallow Water just fine.

My Protein Shake for dinner went down a little slower than usual and it took me about 15 minutes to drink one this morning. I am definitely feeling a significant restriction. I'm going to try eating about an ounce of pureed grouper at lunch. I'm hoping that the band will relax by then and I won't have any trouble getting the fish down. Typically, I've had trouble eating anything in the morning (post banding only).

I don't want to be too tight, but my weight loss has stalled for the past month and my portion size has increased. I need to figure out whether I'm too restricted today, since my DW and I are flying off to Seattle for a much needed vacation tomorrow. I'd hate to be stuck with only liquids for the next 11 days, when we return.

I think it will relax, it's just a different feeling to you and you will adjust that is the word I use adjust...you will get used to it. But I do understand wanting to have a great vacation. Good luck.

The pureed grouper went down just fine. Phase 3 tomorrow and my first day of Phase 4 on Friday.

No worries!

I had a fill on Monday, 5ml total now.

Water went down fine with minimal burping.

This is the third day now and I can drink and sip thick liquids and ate 1/4 cup of cottage cheese with a little burping. I feel very tight.

I tried to eat more solid food, even chewing a lot but got a lot of heavy chest pain.

Not real comfortable, I'm hoping it will calm down in a couple of days, if not by next week or I'm getting 1 ml taken out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
