Hi Everyone,

I have had hunger pains in the middle of the night twice now. Basically, I am woken up by my stomach growling and hunger pains. I hate it because I have to get up to eat something for it to go away. Water doesn't help. Last night I had a Jello before bed but that didn't help. Tonight I think I will have a Protein Drink to see if that works. Anyone else have this and have any ideas. Thanks, Stephanie

Don't do liquids before bed, do something solid. Liquids don't stay in the band. Jello and protien shakes go straight through. Maybe try a banana or another type a fruit. If you are drinking before bed you are just getting rid of any food that may be left in your band from supper, and that is going to make you hungry during the night. Good Luck and let me know if this works for you.

I was having the same problem for a while and my doctor advised me to add another Protein drink and it really did seem to help.

Unfortunately if you are only on week 2 you will get hungry. There isn't anything in your band yet. I would still suggest mashing the banana and maybe add a little milk to it. It will slide right down. For some reason, even to this day bananas are my filler. Congratulations to you and cobrien on your new bands! If you have any questions feel free to ask I am a 2 1/2yr veteran at this and have been through a little of everything. Good Luck, and again Congratulations.

I had that happen for a week straight. 3 days I was in a spaghetti faze, plus it was easy. Then I had a fill and had to do liquids and soft foods for 48 hours. By the end of my work day, my stomach was grumbling away. I figured that I wasn't getting enough Protein in at lunch, which was causing my lunch to NOT linger in my tummy making me feel full. Try and protein drink before bed. Hope this helps, Susan:drool:

I had the same issue this morning - woke up at about 5 AM with major hunger pains. It's the first time I've felt any hunger since I was banded on Wednesday - so, I'm four days post-op, and it aches.

It calmed down with Water - about 10 ounces - and I'm going to have some Soup shortly. But you know, I'm down seven pounds so far, so it's feeling very, very worth it!

I've had this happen from time to time. Remember, I've not ever felt a hunger pain before. It's a welcome sensation. But in the middle of the night I wake up because of it sometimes.

I can't eat things like chicken salad, Jello, or crackers. I don't know why...just when I lay back down it makes me feel stuck.

What I have found to work for me is about a half cup of Cereal. Fruity Pebbles works for me because they are so tiny. The milk makes it so smooth and I don't have any acid reflux or heartburn.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
