Gainesville Anyone?

Recommended Posts

Hey!! How are you doing? Haven't heard from you since you posted this. If you want to get together on Monday or something, you can email me at mpate@ufl.edu. I've love to meet up. I'm not doing much on Monday. Hope you're doing good.

Hey everyone,

Hope everyone is doing well with their recovery. I ended up not having to stay the night at the hospital but was in a lot of pain even with the pain meds. Started feeling better after monday. I am already starting to eat solid foods sortof. Been doing eggs, mashed potatoes, and chicken salad with no problems. I will be coming back to Gainesville on Sunday the 4th and school doesnt start till the 6th. If anybody wants to meet up, let me know.

Robin

I believe it took my insurance 2-3 weeks to get me approved. I actually ended up getting 2 letters in the mail: one saying I was approved and the other one saying I wasn't approved. I had to call the insurance company to find out which one was right!

Let me know if you all want to get together this weekend for lunch or coffee.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
