Gainesville Anyone?

Was just wondering how many of us are from Gainesville or surrounding area. I'd like to maybe get a group of us together. I'm being banded on December 15 and could definately use some friends that are going through or have been through what I'm doing.

I'm in Gainesville and am having surgery on December 1st with Dr. Brient at North FLorida. I have been communicating with someone else in Gainesville who is having hers on December 14th at Shands. I'd definitely be up to get a group going.

Hey Rachel. This is my name on here. Lol.. I was seeing if there was anyone else but the two of us on here from Gainesville or close enough to get together sometime. Hopefully there is. But you know we can always figure out something and get together if you want.

That is so funny! And here I was thinking we had found another person in Gville!

I am in the process of getting the lapband. Just waiting on a meeting with the doctor and insurance approval. I am up for it also.

Great! Let me know if you need anything or have any questions. I was banded on 12/1 and am doing great.

Hey,

I'm being banded on December 18th at Memorial Hospital in Tampa.

I go to school at UF and would be interested in a meeting. Going through exams now then home on Monday for pre-op.

Hey! If you ever wanna chat, let me know. We're the same age, going through the same stuff, so it'd be cool to meet! I'm being banded on Monday. Taking all my finals tomorrow (Friday).Pretty nervous about everything

Good luck! I actually got sick in the middle of the semester and missed 4 weeks of class so I've been playing catchup since Thanksgiving. I ended up having to take I's in 2 classes just so I could finish the semester. Been studying like crazy for my Organic exam on Monday morning.

I'm pretty nervous about everything too. My mom had it done in February and she says I have nothing to worry about. I've never had surgery so I'm still pretty worried.

You guys will do great! I definitely think we should all meet up. If you have any questions, let me know. I'm 13 days post-op and feeling great!!!

Mel,

How are you feeling? I'm getting a little nervous. Preop went well and found out that my surgery is supposed to be at 8:30 tomorrow morning. My mom is taking me to cvs to get stuff I will need after but not sure if I will need to get gauze? or steristrips? drs office didnt say anything except to get liquid tylenol, maalox, and milk of magnesia

Hey! I'm getting better as the days go on. I would definately recommend staying overnight if you feel you need to. I did and I definately wouldn't change that. I actually got called by the hospital to come in about an hour and a half earlier then expected but still didn't get into surgery until about 2. I had some really bad nurses but since my Husband was there, he was able to get me stuff I needed. MAKE SURE YOU GET LIQUID PAIN MEDS. They gave me pills and I had to call them today to get some liquid cuz the pills made me hurt too bad. I've got alot of pain in my back, shoulders..I guess it's from gas or something. I don't know but it hurts. I've been tryin to walk alot and it seems to help.

Good luck tomorrow!!

I am meeting with the surgeon. Dr. Hipp at NFLA. I hope to get the surgery the first or second full week in January. I am glad everyone is doing ok.

Keep posting and tell us how your food is going down Mel.

Hey everyone,

Hope everyone is doing well with their recovery. I ended up not having to stay the night at the hospital but was in a lot of pain even with the pain meds. Started feeling better after monday. I am already starting to eat solid foods sortof. Been doing eggs, mashed potatoes, and chicken salad with no problems. I will be coming back to Gainesville on Sunday the 4th and school doesnt start till the 6th. If anybody wants to meet up, let me know.

Robin

Hi all,

Congratulations on your surgeries and good luck with the weight loss. My wife and I live in Jacksonville and I am 4 days post-op now. The first couple of days were tough but things are getting much better now. I did liquid Meal Replacement since Aug. 2008 and lost about 60lbs before my surgery so I have already been through lots of hunger and look forward to the next phase of all this.

Best of luck!
