  1. I was wondering if there was a way to find out about State or National conventions for Lapband. Not just support or information seminars but actual conventions where we all come together, share success and hurdles we have had to overcome as well as hearing talks from doctors, nutritionists, etc.
  2. I've been tanning outside and it's actually making my scar lighter. I rub Vitamin E oil on it afterwards so maybe that has something to do with it. I've tanned in the tanning bed and it didn't seem to do anything obvious to my scars.
  3. I've been banded for 6 months and we have decided to start TTC in July! I go to my gyno on the 27th of July and we will discuss if I need anything to help with the process. I am so excited!
  4. I'm 21 and I've gotten this way. It use to be that we'd do it atleast 3 times a week. now we're lucky if we do it once a week.
  5. Mine was probably when I saw my dad for the first time a few weeks ago since my surgery in December. He CRIED. He is not the type ot show emotion and he cried because he was so proud of me for doing this. Another was when I saw my best friend for the first time in over a year and a half. She just stood back and said "OMG YOU LOOK AMAZING!!"
  6. I always have gas! I hate it but my husbands gotten use to it. lol..So have most of my friends. I do use Gas X though.
  7. I think part of it is because my husband (he's 29) doesn't take the time to do anything. He gets hard and thinks that means he can just stick it in..it's not passionate or anything. i've tried to talk to him about it and he doesn't get it. hopefully it gets better.
  8. My husband bought me a string bikini. I'm still 237 lbs and not that sexy feeling. every time i put it on, BOING he's rock hard. find something that you may feel sexy in
  9. I'm only 21 and I've completely lost my sex drive. I can't hardly get off when we do have sex. I'm just completely over it. he's wanting to have kids and I'm almost annoyed at the process to do it.

  11. I may be interested. Could you please email me about it. mpate@ufl.edu
  12. I have the Realize Band. I don't know if that makes a difference but from the other replies I guess it does. Mine is right below my breast bone and I don't have any problems with it. Every once in a while if I'm laying on my stomach in an awkward way I can feel it or when I'm working out and doing crunches. Fills are super easy for me. =]
  13. So, I have lost about 50 lbs since December 15 when I had my surgery. I saw my Dad right after the surgery since it was the holidays. He's never really been one to say "I love you," show any type of emotion or give compliments. This weekend I saw him for the first time since December and he literally started crying. He couldn't believe how great I'm looking. I don't see it because I look in the mirror every day but for someone who hasn't seen me in 4 months to have that type of reaction, I can't wait to see what other people do when they see me. I almost cried because my Dad is so happy that I did this and it means so much to have his support. Has anyone had reactions that they couldn't believe? I'm seeing my best friend in a few weeks who I haven't seen in almost 2 years so I'm excited to see her reaction too.
  14. i've always refered to mine as "portus" lol.. But i call my husband "pate-us" so it just kind of fit. or i call it my alien
  15. Davidra-- We were banded by Ben-David the same day. How are you doing? My weight loss has really slowed down. I only have a small fill in right now but am definately going to get one my next appointment. How was your experience with Ben-David? Did you go home the same day or stay over night? I'd love to hear more about how you felt about him and Shands.
  16. I'd be interested if she falls through. My email is mpate@ufl.edu
  17. Could I possibly have became lactose intolerant since my surgery? I was banded 12/15. It seems like everytime I drink milk, I immediately get stomach cramps and pains. Then the gas starts. I'm use to the gas since I get it with pretty much anything but after that starts, the cramps get worse and then I get extreme liquid shits (Sorry for the TMI!). I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed this. It seems to only be with milk.
  18. I'm here for someone to talk to. Just somewhere to get my thoughts out. sorry if this has poor grammar. im crying as i type this. im 20 years old. ill be 21 in april. ive been married to my husband for almost 2 years (march 2007 we got married). since the summer after we got married, i felt like i needed out of this marriage. i stayed though because of issues with my mother. we had a joint account because of some college money that i got from my grandparents but she decided in order to get me to stay with him, to take my money out of my account. i was left with nothing. im in a program at college to become a teacher, since im in my 4th year, im interning and unable to really work to support myself. ive stayed with him for over a year and a half to be supported, have insurance and just make my mom and everyone else happy because they said that I was the one being the evil one and i need to think about his feelings and not hurt him. so ive stayed. i graduate with my bachelors in december. i keep thinking i can stay with him until then and then move out on my own and divorce him. but i dont know if i can wait that long. im unhappy. hes so negative about everything. i feel like we have nothing in common anymore. he annoys me when he's home on the weekends because he doesnt do anything by himself or give me my own space. i dont know what to do. i have no job or money to support myself. i feel like if i leave, ill screw myself. if i stay, im going to be unhappy. i have no one to talk to and im scared to talk to my family because of their reaction to my decision last time. i don't know if my WLS had anything to do with this but it may have. im not sure of anything right now except that i need to be able to support myself before i leave him.
  19. My email is mpate@ufl.edu. Good luck getting approved!! I know that it didn't take long for my insurance to approve me after I was done with all the tests and everything that they needed.
  20. I was wondering if anyone has had a personal trainer. What is the usual price of one. My husband said I could get one for the gym but doesn't know what to expect to pay for one. I don't want to spend a whole hell of a lot but do want to spend the money and get one. I feel like it would help. What did you do with your personal trainer?
  21. I'm 3 weeks out and am always constipated. I will go 3-4 days without having a BM. But I constantly have the feeling that I need to go (rocks in my butt..LOL). Is it okay to take a laxative or something to help with this?
  22. I have some ground turkey and I was wondering how to make it.I have no idea what to do with it. Can you guys give me some ideas on what to make with it?
  23. I wasn't weighed before my surgery. I was at my preop 4 days before and the scale at the Dr. was 5 lbs heavier then at home. But you have to remember, you're wearing clothes and everything. I always weigh naked and first thing in the morning when I do so it's different.
