I need a buddy in Houston! Also- 3 month progress, anyone?

Recommended Posts

Hello, everyone!

I haven't been around for a while. It's been 3 months since my surgery date- August 20th, 2008.

I've only lost about 25lbs and it hasn't been so easy... Does anybody else feel the same way?

I am feeling a bit discouraged. I really need support (and friends!)

I'd love to get a buddy, or to just be very engaged in conversation in the forums, about everyone's experiences.

Hello, I am also in Houston. I would love to talk with you. I will not be banded until 11-20, and really would love someone to talk to about it. I think patience is the key to anything, we did not gain overnight and as much as we would like it will not go away overnight. hang in there. What does your surgeon say?

My surgeon hasn't really told me much. In fact, I find the forums a lot more useful than advice from my surgeon... He really doesn't tell me much, but then again, it is also my fault for not being more informed.

Where in Houston are you?

Hi barb and linda! I'm in Katy and I was banded on 8/4. I've lost 46 pounds so far. I'd be happy to offer advice and support and a listening ear. There is also a forum here for Texas lap banders: Texas Local Lap-Band Support - Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum

You can find several threads in there about Houston and the surrounding area.

Talk to you soon!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
