I fought and i won...woo hoo!!

Recommended Posts

I can't believe I am writing these words. After a year of fighting for the band I just found out I am approved.

I had given up on the band and was in the process of going for the bypass.

A little back ground

I have Aetna. It is a self funded insurance plan.I had to hire a lawyer

I went through all of my appeals. Practically begged my Husband job to overturn the decision but they did not want to set a precidence ( their words) and finally had a 3rd party review who overturned the denial.

I have a tentitive surgery date of August 29th. Since i did all of my tests a year ago they have to find out if i have to re-do any. Ireally hope not.

So keep fighting for what you want and deserve. It is all possible...

I fought for 3 years, but those people had it sewed up. As circumstances would have it, I sold some property to pay for the band and got my date today--July 20.

Like you, I feel like I will have 2 birthdays this year--July 20 and my birth day. Hey, I like the sound of that! Does that mean more presents??

Congratulations!

Colleen

The CDT? code is 43843 for AGB (Adjustable Gastric Banding) or Lap Band. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
