4th fill, too much slime

Recommended Posts

I had my 4th fill on Wednesday and I am having a lot of pain and slime. I am able to keep some things down, but just with a few bites, I get pain, and A LOT of slime. It is really gross. I was too tight with my 3rd fill and had to have some removed. I couldn't keep anything down though, so that's how I knew it was too tight. I can keep things down now, but it is very painful. I have always had a lot of slime, but this is really bad. Does anyone think it is too tight? Will it get better in a few days or should I call the doctor? All the slime has me really worried.

You are definitely too tight. The same thing happened to me. I had a 3rd fill and it hurt so much to eat and when I did eat, my mouth was slimy all the time. I had the doctor remove some and I am 100% better! He took out only 1cc but now I can eat everything without any pain. I think I may need a little more restriction and will probably have him put in 1/2 cc more next time. I think you should have some removed. I was like this for 2 weeks - painful, slimy, and had hiccups all the time. I was miserable, but now I feel great! Good luck to you.

Thanks. It seems to be a little better today, but I still can't eat but a few bites and the pain starts. It is very aggravating because my last fill was too tight too and when they took some out, I think they took too much. That was just a few weeks ago and I am going through the same thing again.

I had an experience like Barbiek. It was 2 weeks of misery before I went back in. Getting stuck on mashed potatoes was the final straw for me.

Like Barbiek, I think I need a tad more restriction and will likely ask for another much smaller fill.

But for now, it is nice to eat with confidence that I most likely won't slime and will be able to keep the food down. I got to the point where drinking plain Water was painful. Don't let it go that far.

I've decided I'd rather be a little too loose than a little too tight!!

Hope you feel better soon,

Denise

Thanks. I went Monday and had some Fluid taken out. I feel much better. I couldn't even keep Water down over the weekend. The nurse that took the fluid out said that the doctor put way too much in.

Glad you are feeling better, Carrie! Being too tight is no fun at all.

Of course my surgeon said that he prefers his patients to have looser bands and exercise more self-control. To which my husband replied that if I had self-control, I wouldn't need the band! :)

He is right, but that was putting rather bluntly.

Thanks! I was too tight with my last 2 fills, and now I finally feel like it is right. I would much rather be too loose that too tight. I was miserable.

Glad you're feeling better Carrie! It's still a learning process, but now we know what "too tight" means! Good luck with your continued weight loss journey!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
