How are the banded Notorious Novembers???

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the support. So far I have had band surgery, port replacement, conscious sedation (gastrospcope) and will he doing a barium swallow xray on wed. I have thrown up from day 1 for the past 6 months. I have lost 23 lbs. I have an app with my surgeon May 29. At this point, I want it fixed or removed. I am so tired of throwing up and making excuses for why it is happening. I had this done to advance my health, not ruin it.

You spent a whole lot of money like I did. If I were you, I would get evaluated by another band Dr. so that if your Dr. did mess up, you will have some recourse. Best wishes.

No I changed my goal to be more realistic. Ultimate goal is 70 lbs. I am 5'1 and was 198, have PCOS, pre-diabetes and high blood pressure. I wanted to prevent future health problems, specifically diabetes since it is on both sides of my family

Ah, okay. Sorry, I just couldn't figure that one out.

Good job! I also had surgery in November and am down only 41 pounds. For some reason I thought it would be more, I am not complaining, yet I would like to see the scale under 200 really soon.

Don't be discouraged!! You have had a good loss and I bet you really feel so much better than you did in November!! It will all come off. Everyone loses at their own pace.

You guys have done very well. In six months, I have lost 33 lbs. My progress has been slow, but I am thankful because I am not where I was in November.

Keep up the good work!

Yup, we'd all probably weigh the same or more than in Nov.!!!

I think I've hit the 6 month slump. I've been a total slug, not going to the gym, not using my elliptical at home, not eating right, just in general not being very committed to my band. So, tomorrow I'm dragging my sorry behind back to the gym and stopping the excuses and the procrastinating.

Memorial Day June 1st report....My goal was to be 200 by June first and then I changed it, to be under 200 (199) by June 1st. I am 6lbs away from goal and even though the deadline for me to get there is a mear 12 days away and I probably wont hit 199 within the next 12 days I am still hoping to be pretty dam close and I am really happy with my progress so far. I'm going to Vegas in about 3 weeks and I am pleased to say that for the first time I truthfully dont have a thing to wear (that fits).

Congrats! It's kinda of a fun problem to have, not being able to fit any of your old clothes, yet not wanting to buy a lot more because you KNOW you're going to continue to lose!

Hope you have a wonderful time in Vegas!

It's official, my band slipped which I knew last week. I had a fluoro xray today and it was confirmed. I see my surgeon next friday and then need to discuss options. The throwing up is daily. If I eat food, I PB. This has been a frustrating journey I must say but I dont regret it. I like the weight loss, I regret that the band is not working the way it should. I want to get 'normal' again, whatever that means since I have had problems from day 1. So here's hoping he can fix it.

Mom2two - you are in my prayers. I hope everything gets fixed for you really soon, and at NO additional cost. You've been through the wringer and I am holding good thoughts for your full recovery.

I'm doing well - seem to have found the sweet spot. Just returned from a 5-day trip over Memorial Day weekend with my hubby to Arkansas and Mississippi. Didn't get much workout time in, ate a little too much of the wrong things, but lo and behold, I was actually down a pound yesterday morning when I weighed in!

I really, really, my band! A year ago, before I was banded, that weekend would have resulted in a 2 - 5 pound GAIN!

I'm really close to making my goal of being under 220 by the end of the month - and moving forward on my goal of being at or under 200 by July 4th.

This is, hands-down, the BEST thing I've EVER done for myself...

I might just make my Memorial Day Weekend goal. The scale dropped to 202 over the weekend which thought may have been a fluke, but its been steady at 202. So 199 might happend after all. Wish me luck.

I went to see my dr today. He wants to consult with another surgeon. It slipped up, not down. High chance of removal at this point. I go back in 3 weeks.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
