So, I was suppose to get my first fill on the the 17th of Dec but my son got really sick the night before and so I wasn't able to get it done. Dang it!!:) But now I'm scheduled to see my Dr on Feb 4th and I'm hoping to get filled then if I can afford it. My ins doesn't pay for the fills so I have to come up with the money out of my own pocket. But, I know I definitely need a fill because I have no restriction at all. In fact, I can eat whatever I want whenever I want. Just as long as I eat slow and chew, chew, chew! I don't want to be able to eat like that. That's why I got the band in the first place. Gosh, I'm so frustrated! Anyways, hope to get the fill and stop eating so much!

I'm reading and reading and realize it 'might' just be time for me to get my 2nd fill? I can whatever I want - just not as much, but a good amount - if I want. I can feel certain things right in my throat... but, the fact that I can eat bread, Buns, crackers - I believe I need to get off my tail and call again for prices on fills in Chicago.

I really hate to drop the $250. I was originally quoted - but, I might need to just do it. I'll call a few places tomorrow.

I had my first fill and it was no problem. I can still eat more than I would like...so I'm trying to limit on my own. I'm not scheduled for my next appointment for six more weeks. I guess I can call for an earlier appointment if needed. Guess I'll just wait and see how it goes. If I lose, I'll wait.

My surgeon says the first fill gets you to the city, the second gets you to the neighborhood, and the third gets you to the street.

I'm going to try and be patient.

~~anne

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
