I had a hard time at first accepting my band. But as of now I feel great. Like I didnt even ahve surgery.

Heres the thing though. I can eat whatever I want....and portion size is bigger than should be.

I had my first fill one week ago...and I can eat 'normal'. I dont want to wait until the end of the month to get another fill. I want that 'full' feeling and I sure as hell dont get that now.

I was banded on Sept 22 and have lost 11 lbs. I did lose 20 but once I was able to eat more ..I did and gained back 9.

I also wonder if I should go back on my Metformin for my PCOS. They had me go off of it two weeks before surgery.

Soooooo guess IM going to call the doc tomorrow and see about gettin another fill or if Im even allowed..and goin back on Met.

I feel the same as you i was banded aug 12 and have only lost 26 lbs - most of hich was during the preop diet - eeh i have had 2 fills bt still can eat more than i am supposed to - talked with my dr last monday - he said it is not really a point that you should only be able to consume 2 oz of food but to be able to eat enough that satisfies you and you are still losing weight - that may be 6 or even 8 oz bt need to feel that satiation. hope this helps any support is great you are not alon - the dr did say in prespective losing 26 lbs in 3 months is more than 7 lbs a month - hopeflly 70 lbs in 10 months so keep trying and exercize

Why do you think that you will be restricted because you've had a fill? The number of fills you get is individual. 1 more may do it, but you might need 3 more. No one knows until they reach that sweet spot.

I don't think your doc will give you another fill yet. The stomach needs time to adjust to what has just happened. This isn't an instant fix, that will magically change us during surgery. It will take months for most of us before the real restriction begins. If you are on met, then chances are you have PCOS, that means really slow weight loss. But even if you have met for diabetes, you could well be insulin resistant anyway, which also means slow weight loss.

Just know the weight loss will come, in the mean time enjoy life.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
