hello from michigan 10 months post lap band

Recommended Posts

Hello all!!! i was banded on dec 17, 2007, best decision i have ever made im a little over 10 months out and so far i have lost 85lbs. i havent felt this good since i was in my early 20's. to anybody thinking about it or not sure if they should have the surgery, DO IT!!!!!!!! but remember the band isnt the only solution, you MUST change your eating habbits and think NUTRITION!!!! i do know a few people who have had the surgery and have little success, but they have not followed the nutritional guidlines that were set by their doctor and nutritionist. It is not EASY but beleive me, well worth it. I have had no complications, the only issues i have had is eating to fast and throwing up after, which is my own fault. Hope to hear from anybody who has questions or comments or their own stories

Ken

Hey Ken, I am from Michigan and I am about 9months out and I have lost about 40lbs. I am happy with my band and I think it works if you work with it. I am happy with my results, I am just now at my "sweet spot" with my fills. It took longer than I thought, but I have arrived and am looking forward to speedy weight loss. Keep up the good work!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
