things I wont/dont miss about being overweight

Recommended Posts

I tought it would be nice to make a list of at least 10 things that we will not or do not miss about being overweight. Hopefully many more will go along with me on this. Below are things I surely WILL NOT miss about being overweight!!

1. Looking the other way when I pass by a full length mirror.

2. While buying clothes having to go to the plus size clothes and

the clothes being ugly. *why don't they make trendy cloths for us

overweight women anyways?*

3. Having to make sure my shirts are long enough to cover my oversized stomach.

4. Looking at pictures of myself from my thin days wondering how I could let my weight get so out of control

5. Not feeling comfortable around my (inshaped) husband

6. People I went to school with looking at me in shock because I have went from 125 to over 200 pounds.

7. Not being able to play with my kids without getting out of breath within the first couple minutes.

8. Double chin

9. having to have long hair because short hair makes my face look even fatter

10. having to wear a bathing suit that has a skirt with it cause i dont want my thighs to show

It makes me sad that you're so young. I really hope you get to experience being YOUNG very soon. All those things are how you should feel when you're getting old and slowing down.

That's really what spurred me on to having surgery. I didnt have comorbidities yet but I felt so tired and old, and that was from a relatively low BMI of 35. I am absolutely BURSTING with energy these days. The clothes and stuff are all nice, but its how I feel that really amazes me. I was missing out on life before.

Very best of luck!

Some things I won't miss :

Being discriminated against...

Odd looks from strangers...

Being avoided from co-workers...

It is amazing how I am being treated by others since I have lost 50 plus pounds. Such a shame..... people are soooo clueless at times.

Things I DON'T miss about being overweight

1) Embarrassment eating out because I felt people were staring at me to see how much and what I would eat.

2) Avoiding meeting new people because I was so afraid of what they thought.

3) Avoiding seeing people I haven't seen in awhile because of how fat I was!

4) Not wanting to exercise outdoors because I thought people would be thinking, "Gees! It isn't working!"

5) Being bigger than my ex-husband

6) Afraid to get naked in front of a guy

7) Aches and pains

8) My clothes getting tighter, but dreading the thought of shopping in the plus section...so I just wore the same old stretchy stuff.

9) This one might be kind of weird...but part of me was afraid to get divorced because I didn't think anybody else would want me.

2. Shopping for clothes - everything has an anchor on it or some big ass flowers - What is that????

3. Back, hips, legs and feet hurting all the time

4. Taking diabetes medicine

5. Seeing my Ex and being so overweight

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
