WHY are people voting for Obama??????

Recommended Posts

Here's why people are voting for Obama: Obama Supporters Wait Hours To See Candidate Speak - Videos - WTVJ. Go to about 45 seconds from the end, to hear a woman attending an Obama rally say,

"It was the most memorable time of my life. It was a touching moment."

Reporter: "Why?"

"Because I never thought this day would ever happen. I won't have to worry about putting gas in my car. I won't have to worry about paying my mortgage. You know, if I help him, he's gonna help me."

Oh good Lord! The problem today is ANYbody thinking that ANY candidate is going to be the savior or messiah! They act as if the president really has all this power, which they don't.

People today are all too worried about "getting theirs" or what the government is gonna give them or do for them. Too many people sitting around with their hand out, asking what Big Daddy Gubment has for them. People have turned into sheep -- waiting to be told what to do, when, and how fast. That's the "personal responsibility" part of my issue with people.

When we have a country that has to wait on everything, then you take thinking out of the mix. I am a transplant from Houston, and I watched in amazement as Ike headed for the gulf and people literally complained that they weren't TOLD to evacuate and then blamed the government for that! I'm sorry, but if I saw a hurricane the size of Texas barreling toward me, NOBODY would have to tell me to get the hell outta Dodge!

I didn't write this, and I don't have the name of the person to give credit to:

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. --Abraham Lincoln

Friends and Associates do mean something…

VIRGINS do not hang around with prostitutes; PATRIOTS do not hang around with terrorists.

It IS that simple!!!

William Ayers - American Terrorist

Frank Davis – mentor and radical Communist/sexual pervert

Raila Odinga - Cousin, Radical Islamist

Raul Reyes - Columbian Terrorist

Antonio Rezko - Felon/Slum Lord

Professor Khalidi - Muslim Terrorist Supporter and got Obama into Harvard….

Reverend Wright - Racist Supporter/Preacher, Anti-American

Reverend James Meeks - Racist

That's why I say nobody represents me since the conservatives have pretty much abandoned their base.

I definitely take each issue and look at them separately. For example, the liberal side of me would like for all (legal) Americans to have some kind of health insurance but the businesswoman in me wonders how we could handle the management and possible fraud.

I WILL check out those threads in here. It is a large site, so it can be hard to find exactly what I need -- or even know what it is I should be thinking about. I am already familiar with many things pre- and post-op (the doctor's office gave me a link to a website that goes through many of the details about the procedure), but hearing from others is always better in my book. They are the ones experiencing it, so they can shed a whole nuther light on the matter.

Thanks for directing me to those areas!

You're welcome! Someone did the same for me so I'm just passing it along! Go to Forums/FAQs

That's MY short-term goal too!! 'Cept I don't have double D's -- single D's here (but they were once nice, perky C's :cursing:).

Ahh I remember those days!

Hey, so long as when I get down to my ideal goal I don't have to lift my belly flap like a skirt to sit down, I'll be happy. :)

Right?!? My mother asked me if my surgeon had said anything about excess skin. I said, "let me lose the weight first!"

VIRGINS do not hang around with prostitutes; PATRIOTS do not hang around with terrorists.

Alas, we were doing so well. I think that is grossly oversimplified. What about the Bushes and Bin Ladens? Unfortunately we put that bastard in office for 2 terms. Clinton had a balanced budget and less than 8 years later, we are closing in on a $7T debt. Great job. McCain is just way too aligned with Bush for me to ever to vote for him. So I didn't!

Go read the Patriot Act 1 and 2 and tell me who has been actively destroying America. Tell me who the real domestic terrorists are. I got news for you, your freedoms, they have already been seriously eroded or destroyed by your administration. The same administration whose decisions John McCain voted to upheld 90% of the time. The folks who have plunged this country and the world in the worst economic crisis in history, the folks who are spending 10 billion a month in a war we entered under false pretend, the folks who declared it unlawful to show American soldiers coffins and funerals to keep the public ignorant, the folks who made the torture of Americans legal, never mind our prisoners of war. The folks you can thank for America slipping far down the world ratings in terms of education, healthcare, sciences. Those are the people who are destroying America and their names are Bush, Cheney and yes McCain who did stood up 10% of the time and aquiesced the other 90% of the time because it served his interests!

Well, again, it was part of an entire quote by someone else. However, ONE man can't enhance our economy any more than ONE man can destroy it. It takes the Congress and Senate to participate and, in most instances, create the issues that the president accepts or rejects. In my opinion, it took the entirity of the government to create what we have today. ALL of them. That is why I say nobody represents me. :)

I feel like I keep repeating myself:

This is not MY administration. It's just THE administration in place. I am a conservative, but the guys who call themselves conservatives today are nothing more than liberals. That said, those LIBERALS have done this to us. Socialism like Obama wants is a thousand times worse than what we have right now.

Well Presidents have wanted plenty of things in the past that haven't happened. As we saw with the bailout, the Republicans completely abandoned their political party leader and the Fed Chairman and Treasury Secretary that their leader appointed. I still want someone to splain to me what Chris Cox has been doing during all this mess.

With regard to the national debt, Dubya had a republican congress for 6 years. STOP SPENDING MONEY!

Wait, what? You don't approve of Bush's spending money (neither do I), but you want Obama because he'll spend more?

For the 7000th time, we are electing a President, not a Dictator. You have this notion that he's going to be standing on the streets throwing currency. During a debate, McCain said he wanted to take a hatchet to the federal budget and Obama said he wanted to take a scalpel.

But yes, I would much rather we were spending money on Americans than to fight some ridiculous war in Iraq and spending money on Iraqis. The Republicans want to spend every dollar of tax revenue PLUS every Chinese yuan on defense. Screw the people! When we first went to war, I had to explain to numerous people why we were in Iraq.

9/11...Bin Laden...Afghanistan...BIG GRAY AREA...Iraqi War

Am I glad that Sodamn Insane is dead? Sure. But why do we feel the need to be the World Police?

See? We agree again. I too say we need to keep the money here. Giving our money to other countries is no smarter than taking from my family to "spread the wealth" even in my country.

And I disagree with Obama's scalpel theory. We are hemhorraging money right now. The time for scalpel cutting passed us by many years ago. MANY years ago. It's time to chop out the unnecessaries and try to keep the body alive. And it needs to be done much more aggressively than any scalpel job will ever do, I believe. :rolleyes2:

But you honestly believe that the Congress will allow for the kind of cutbacks you or McCain want when they're trying to stay in good with their constituents at home?

Actually, I'm all for nuking the entire place to the ground so that we can start over. Like that's ever gonna happen... :rolleyes2:

Not saying that voting McCain would guarantee these types of cuts, but it doesn't mean they are any less necessary.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
