So far I have my broth and Soup for post op and that's it. I still need to get my chewable Vitamins, gas strips, and a sleep bra (just in case my incisions are too close to my underwire). Oh, I already have a heating pad and I know what I'm going to wear home from the hospital

What about everyone else? What's on your shopping list?

I got my items. Dont forget the liquid Tylenol, icypops (for the pills you have to crush), 100% juices, and lip balm. I am taking a comfy robe and slippers to the hospital as we will be walking alot and I dont want to MOON anyone!! I also am looking into purchasing a wedge for my bed as it is hard to get in and out after surgery. Good Luck shopping!

it's funny I brought so much stuff to the hospital and did not touch a thing I did not get out of that bed except for the twice they made me pee I was so out of it. But let me tell you it's all so worth it I'm 11 days out and 16 pounds lighter thank you god!

I bought all the bowell prep my surgeon wants me to do next sunday, the chewable vitamins, Calcium, broth, and whey Protein. I keep looking for better prices on the gas strips. 7.99 for 30 at Rite Aid seems high. I have to wait on the Celebrex and an anti nausea suppository from the drug store. They have to order it. I have plenty of books to read when I get home. The only thing I'm taking to the hospital is slippers, a book, and clothes to go home.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
