A change in perspective

Recommended Posts

I used to want to lose weight and look the same I did when I was in my 20s and had a hot body.

Now I want:

To see my clavicle, a rib or even a waistline again.

I used to want to lose weight and be able to turn guys' heads again.

Now I want:

To be able to tie my shoes, walk upstairs, and (blush) have sex without difficulty.

I used to want to lose weight and look good in a bikini again.

Now I want:

To not be staring diabetes in the face, not worry about high blood pressure, not have my knees, hips, and feet ache, and not see this fat person staring back at me from the mirror -- when I catch a fleeting glance, of course.

I now simply want my health and quality of life back. I want to have pictures of me again (few taken in 15 years)! I want to shake the embarassment, the sadness, the self-contained lonliness because I don't want to (or can't) do some things with others. I used to want to look great again, but if my body looks halfway decent after my journey, I will take the blessing and look at it as icing on the cake. My vanity days are over. I just want my life back.

I love it too.

I wanna sleep without snoring, wear a necklace without an extender, run up a flight of steps easily, and get up from the chair without being numb.

Keep up the good work

OMG, Mindy, I just looked at your ticker! You freakin' ROCK, girl!!! Can I be just a little wee bit envious if I don't mean it in a bitter, green sort of way?

So true, not to die but to life right? It could be a slow death too. Just like any other addict I think. Get to the edge and have to make a change or else. Best to you and so glad to her about your progress. I am a newbie

I hear ya all! I want a good sleep, not snore and for my husband to sleep in the same room as me. I want my back not to be in pain even if just for a day a few days would be even better. I just want the life I deserve to have.

Omg, how could I forget the wedding rings?? The diamonds are so dirty, but I can't take them off without removing half the skin on my knuckle...

I have not been able to wear my wedding rings in 7 yrs , they were too small.

I wore it on my pinky for a while. DH went went out and bought me a "new" solitaire because I refused to get the old one sized.

NOW The original wedding band is almost TOO BIG !!!

LOL Your too funny ! umm im not quite sure what to say to that ?

I would rather be an inspiration than the reason of someone being envious i guess ? Is that coincided ? I guess you know what i mean . LOL

But thank you . Let me know if you need anything, your doing great !

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
