I'm so Excited I just can't HIDE it! Approved for financing.

So I have been researching the Lap band for about 2 years now going through the thoughts of should I have it or shouldn't I have it....In August I decided I AM GOING TO HAVE IT! I had just graduated college and got my first job. I found out that my insurance paid for it however not for 5 years....I AM NOT WILLING to WAIT for FIVE YEARS! So I decided that since I don't have any major bills that I was going to finance. Well today I WAS APPROVED for financing. My surgery cost is $15,200 including unlimited fills for the first year. I only did get approved for 12,000 beause of the tightening of the credit market but it's ok hopefully I can save up the 3200 by the time sugery is scheduled which should be in January! I am soo excited!!

are you positive your insurance won't cover it for 5 years, or you have to have 5 years history? I've never heard of having to have insurance for 5 years before it's covered.... very strange.... Best of Luck!

Congratulations!!!! Consider it an investment in yourself. I am getting banded on Tuesday and starting to get a little nervous, but also very excited. I am ready to get banded and start the rest of my journey.

I'm sure I have to wait five years to get it through my company. I'm not too upset I mean the payments are only 295 it's not to bad

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
